"The Walking Dead" as written by and Brody Dalle Alain Johannes Moschulski....
Oh hold the rifle up to my chin
Your bell rings out, it's deceiving
The womb is the safest place I've ever been
So carry me home baby, let me back in

No way, no way
No way, no way

Oh hello psycho, is that you in the mirror again?
I can't escape the feeling
that you'll be here till the end

I've been kissing the grave
of a ghost, a ghost that breathes
The ghost has an army of thieves
and they're coming for me

I won't believe in dying to live
I won't pay for what I do not need
I want to release
I want to be free

Bird in a cage, eyes to the sky
Here come the angels
Singing deaf lullabies
Crush crystal wings up
Breathe in and choke back
Found my misfortune in the mouth of a cat

Who got your tongue girl?
Cut it right out
Striking a match, calling them out
Hey yeah, you're mine
You're mine, hey yeah
Fruit of thy womb
Blood of a man
That cannot save me now
Only time can
Hey yeah, you're mine, you're mine

I won't believe in dying to live
I won't pay for what I do not need
I want to release
I want to be free

There is no way
There is no way out
There is no way
There is no way out

General Commentone of my favorite songs <3

i think this song has a lot of meaning in it. i've read about voodoo and zombies and such, and then i heard this song and was blown away. these are some very interesting lyrics. i don't know if Brody Dalle or whoever the writer of this song had meant exactly, and if they're referring to a zombie(the walking dead) or metaphorically speaking about themselves being trapped inside a body and having no way out.

this song is brilliant, i adore Brody's voice and the rock n roll feel of this song. <3

General CommentI always liked this song but never really got it. Years later, after a suicide attempt and being diagnosed with a mental disorder, i listened to it and it seemed to make much more sense. To me, it seems to be about being alive but feeling like you're already dead. Not being happy with the person you are and the mistakes you've made and you don't see any way out. It could even be about being stuck with a mental disorder that makes you think like this.
