Where you been, fool? (x2)

You play me like a bitch just out of preschool
Your time's a little off
Bitch, I've been around the block enough
To know your ass is straight up out the cesspool

I know you think you got this on lock (x2)

Jaws grinding to the beat
This sick ass noise is gonna bust your fuckin' teeth
Them good old boys just trying to make ends meet
Bowing at your feet, just to get a bite to eat

So bitch, what went down that night?
Thought we was chillin' with a case
Doing just fuckin' fine? (x2)

What, what? Doin' just fuckin' fine

Well, why waste your time just to understand
Secondhand best friends
What a scarce source of love
Compassion, and all of the above
You're taking it from me
You're taking it from us

Woe is me, this metaphorical intensity
All you do is fuckin' fuck me
All you do is fuck me

Maybe I'll take the long way tonight
Get in your fuckin' way to start a fuckin' fight
And end this perpetual lie
That feeds your starving fuckin' ego
Like the white in your eyes

And bitch, I ain't got the patience or time
To draw another detailed map to guide your simple fuckin' mind (x2)

Well, why waste your time just to understand
Secondhand best friends
What a scarce source of love
Compassion, and all of the above
You're taking it from me
You're taking it from us

Jaws fuckin' dropping
Titties fuckin' bouncing
Just like lions in the wold
Gazelle fuckin' pouncing
Who the fuck are you, fool?
Where the fuck you been?
Hiding all your faces, ugly as sin

So tell me where it went wrong
Tell me where it went
Chillin' with them bitches
Never meant fucking shit (x2)

Well, why waste your time just to understand
Secondhand best friends
What a scarce source of love
Compassion, and all of the above
You're taking it from me
You're taking it from us

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
