"Happy You're Gone" as written by Steve Forrest, William Lloyd, Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal....
Breathe me every time you close your eyes
Taste me every time you cry
This memory will fade away and die
Just for today, breathe me and say goodbye

How many times? How many times?
Now I can't look you in the eye
Now I can't look you in the eye
How many times? How many times?
Now I can't look you in the eye

See me, in the eyes of another's child
Turn away, when you see me walking by
Once in a while
This melody will fade away and die
Just for today, breathe me and say goodbye

How many times? How many times?
Now I can't look you in the eye
Now I can't look you in the eye
How many times? How many times?
Now I can't look you in the eye

And I don't even want to try
My my
Cause every word from you is a lie
My my

How many times? How many times?
Now I can't look you in the eye
Now I can't look you in the eye
How many times? How many times?
Now I can't look you in the eye

General Comment"how many times" in my opinion refers to how many times a guy/girl's partner cheated, now he/she can't look the other in the eye, because he/she is disgusted. "breath me" and "taste me" i think refers to the person wanting the cheater to keep thinking of him/her and continue to feel bad about what they've done. they want their revenge.

the song is clearly not about steve. i don't really think it's about anyone in particular.

General CommentThe meaning's obvious, so don't hurry to say it was written for Steve Hewitt... Brian and Stef can't be happy he's gone after all those years. I'm sick of people saying "it's for steve", I mean ok, maybe they hadn't had an 'amicable' split up, but it's kinda cruel to call one of your 'husbands' cheap and nasty fake and Brian+Stef can't be that cruel..

General Commentwell when i saw them in shepherds bush just under two weeks ago, after brian was announcing all the band members, then went on to say "this is a song about nobody in particular", it's pretty obvious who he was talking about.
Brian writes some pretty sarcastic lyrics, so i don't think you can take it so literal all the time

General Commentthis is so sad yet so beautiful. :/

teenagewife : i agree with you; i think it's so stupid when people say like every song was written for steve. same with BFTS.

General Commentoh yeah, taking it a bit far to say every single song is about steve, obviously they aren't
but it's almost expected to have a few songs about him, he was a big part of their lives after all, gotta let him have some songs lol
