"All the Pretty Girls" as written by and Nathaniel Joseph/dost Ruess....
All the pretty girls on a Saturday night

So I call, your name
Cross my fingers, uncross the others
Hesitate, oh I don't think straight
With nothin' to prove

I don't wanna say I'm leavin'
I'll stay until the weekend
You can take all the things, the boxes and rings
And get goin'

'Cause I've been waitin' for

All the pretty girls on a Saturday night
Let it be, and come to me with the look in your eyes
Well you break and take all the words from my mouth
I wish all the pretty girls were shakin' me down

So I call (I call) you out (out baby)
Just to feel a little bit better about myself (he does)
I do (you do), baby
I do, I do, I do

Until their lips start to move
And their friends talk music
I'll say "I've never heard the tune."
But I have, I just hate the band
'Cause they remind me of you

Every single night ends up the same
I don't say much at all, but I bring up your name
(Over and over and over)
I think it's striking me out

All the pretty girls on a Saturday night
Let it be, and come to me with the look in your eyes
Well you break and take all the words from my mouth
I wish all the pretty girls were shaking me down

But not you,
You still wear boots and your hair is too long
And then this one, doesn't wanna admit she's fallin' in love
Oh c'mon, oh c'mon, what's a boy to do
When all the pretty girls can't measure to you ?

Ha !

I don't understand your reasons
Please just stay over the weekend
You can't take all those things
They define you and me
Everything we've become
You're all that I need
Please don't make me face my generation alone

All the pretty girls on a Saturday night
Let it be, and come to me with the look in your eyes
And you break and take all the words from my mouth
I wish all the pretty girls were shakin' me down

But not you,
I feel your faith is destroying the world
And then this one, never really understood
The 80's is over and done
Oh c'mon, what's a boy to do,
When all the pretty girls can't measure to you ?

Say
All the pretty girls on a Saturday night
All the pretty girls on a Saturday night
All the pretty girls on a Saturday night
All the pretty girls on a Saturday night

General CommentThis song is incredible because it really connects with anyone's whose gone through a breakup in the manner Nate's describing in the song. Underneath the "fun" exterior of the music lies some real pain. When Nate's singing about feeling better about himself and pleadingly sings "I do, I do, I do" it's as if he's trying to convince himself that he's really feeling better - so sad :(

    Song MeaningIt's simple really; his relationship ended and now he's trying to move on but there's still this fixation there with his ex-girlfriend who he doesn't exactly hate.. makes me think that she ended it and he doesn't really understand why, or doesn't agree with the reason, still caring for her deeply.. hence him caring so much as to mess up every time he tries to go out. And I believe these are a better layout of the lyrics;
    ------------------

All the pretty girls on a Saturday night..

So I call your name, cross my fingers uncross the others, hesitate.
Oh,I don't think straight with nothing to prove.

    I don't wanna say I'mm leaving

Let it be, and come to me with the look in your eyes.
Well you break and take all the words from my mouth.
I wish all the pretty girls were shaking me down.

So I call (I call) you out (out baby)
Just to feel a little bit better about myself (he does)
And I do (you do), baby I do, I do, I do (really don't get it, yeah we know you do)
'Til their lips start to move,
    and their friends talk music
I say "I've never heard the tune!"
But I have, I just hate the band
'cause they remind me of you.

General CommentNo wonder I was confused there were like no lyrics for fun... this listing is wrong, there's supposed to be a period at the end.

General CommentYes, there is still such a thing as good pop music.

Ironically, this is too good to ever become popular.

this adds up the whole meaning of this song.
i think the song is about not being able to get over someone, and although you go out and try to meet others, everything just reminds you of them.

definitely one of my favourite songs:)

General CommentI feel like this song is talking about that one person, whether it's a missed chance or not doesn't really matter.

It's like when you feel such a connection with someone and when you're away from them, you try to compensate, try to get the "pretty girls" because that's what we aim for. However, you can never shake the feeling of how much that person meant to you.

He states all the "quirks" or "imperfections" in the other person that he has fallen in love with. Her 80's style, her boots and long hair. All of these he has come to love and he can't get her out of his head no matter what.
