"If I Didn't Know" as written by and Dan Romer Jenny Owen Youngs....
If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you more

Monday morning, back to work just like you said
If I keep moving then I won't be kind of dead, dead
Grease the hinges but they still refuse to budge
Ceiling changes if I wait for long enough

Something's lost when I translate you
I think I have it then it slips through
Decoding you has proved the hardest thing
I know you love me if it starts to sting

If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you more

Friday evening and the drinks we pass around
You said, Jenny you look better on the ground, ground
My name spells emergency, quick darling make me hurt
I'm begging you on scabby knees and swallowing your dirt, dirt

Something's lost when I translate you
I think I have it then it slips through
Decoding you has proved the hardest thing
I know you love me if it starts to sting

If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you more

If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you
If I didn't know I couldn't want you more
If I didn't know I couldn't want you more

General CommentThis song,"Led to the Sea" and "Secrets" from the new album are my favorites. I'm not sure what this song is about, but it seems to possibly be about a kind of painful relationship ("I know you love me if I start to sting"). Maybe about wanting someone you KNOW you really shouldn't want?

You can get the mp3 version of this album at amiestreet.com for only $7! A dollar even goes to charity.

General CommentI think this (very beautiful) song is about the realities of a loving relationship--there are always difficulties, problems, things that sting. But ultimately, she starts off and and ends by saying, that it all lets her know how much he loves her. It's getting through the bad things that allow her to want him.
