Walking alone 'cause the night is dead
Crossed my mind when I crossed the bridge

How you lost your mind and your wrist got bruised
And you wanted better love when it's sleeping in your bedroom
Hold on, stay on my side, don't go

If you could see me whoever I am, it's not like a movie but it's not all skin and bones
So come on love(come on, come on, come all and go)

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go

Now I'm walking alone 'cause the night is dead
My feet don't glide like they did back then
When I would call you up so we could shoot the moon
These days I'm left to howl in toon

Hearts do break and I must admit, I've got a better set of chords so I might've been fakin??? it
Think I really cried just once so

If you could see me whoever I am, it's not like a movie but it's not all skin and bones
So come on love(come on, come on, come all and go)

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go

After all the shows, after the boys of summer will go
Amid all the confusion
These friends I've been losin???
I always thought from the start
I'd be the one moving on
I guess I'll never know
Where all the boys of summer will go
But I'll miss what we made
All those days were not wasted
There are some things I may never know

How you lost your mind and your wrist got bruised
And you wanted better love when it's sleeping in your bedroom
Hold on, stay on my side, don't go

If you could see me whoever I am, it's not like a movie but it's not all skin and bones
So come on love(come on, come on, come all and go)

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go

If you could see me whoever I am, it's not like a movie but it's not all skin and bones
So come on love(come on, come on, come all and go)

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go

(Walking alone 'cause the night is dead)
If you could see me whoever I am,
(Crossed my mind when I crossed the bridge)
It's not like a movie but it's not all skin and bones
(Walking alone 'cause the night is dead)
So come on love(come on, come on, come all and go)
(Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go)

An absolutely beautiful song. While I wish Nate would stop writing about this girl, it's nice to see that he's now writing about being over her. He's basically saying he still loves her, he won't let go of the memories they had, and life isn't as good as it was when they were together. But even with all that, he's ready to move on. Anybody who's ever lost a great love can relate to the feeling.

Hearts do break and I must admit, I got a better set of chords so I might have been faking it. Think I might have only cried just once.

    This verse is crushingly beautiful

It reminds me of a "dead end song" the format had.. when "she breaks for the summer, so she can find lovers." and the whole "boys of summer" kind of intertwines. or maybe "boys of summer" is alluding to don henley.. or maybe nothing at all.

    My Interpretation

Although possibly false, It's my interpretation that this song is about a girl he has a an incredible crush on / cares for / loves but (FOR WHATEVER REASON) she doesn't know him or that he even exists. You'll see what I mean, it's all in the chorus

"If you could see me whoever I am, it's not like a movie but it's not all skin and bones So come on love(come on, come on, come all and go)

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah I will not let you go"

Anyway personally thinking about the sings mean in this way made me love it more than the general consensus of it being actually about not being able to let go of an old girlfriend/bad break up.

    Thanks for reading

i wonder if nate wrote this or if jack did...? while the self-abuse recalls the format's "time bomb" the line "how you wanted better love" calls to mind "better love" by steel train. then again, maybe it's a beautiful combination of both guys' work, just like the band!

So I'm confused. fun.'s myspace says "I found a verse and a chorus", but it doesn't sound like he's singing that at all. It sounds like what krikitarmy said, "I've got a better set of cords." It makes more sense anyway, plus verse would have to be two syllables if those were correct.

I dunno though. Maybe they felt lazy, assumed these lyrics were right, and copy/pasted this to their lyrics on myspace. Haha.

I take as though he thought he would be the one moving on but he was actually wrong. He actually got hurt and she broke his heart(Think I might have only cried just once.)I love this band and i think it's ironic there music is so happy but the lyrics are usually kinda sad :/

This part reminds me of myself kinda...

After all the shows, after all the boys of summer had gone, amid all the confusion and friends I've been losing I always thought from the start I'd be the one moving on. I guess I'll never know Where all the boys of summer will go but I'll miss what we made and the days were not wasted. There are some things I may never know.

The music video for this song is so freakin great. I read in an interview with Nate that the first line of the song was originally "walking the dog 'cause the cat is dead". Ha!

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
