Whoa, he got just what he wanted out of you
Whoa, ascending from the silence, polished lies

Breaking hearts was never this easy
Watch them swoon while slowly drift away
Basking in their pain

Animosity builds up and I know exactly what you're going to say
Don't say it, don't waste your breathe on me

I was shaking by the way she looked as me
I was hoping that we were meant to be
Should have seen this coming miles back down the road
My speeding lies caught up this time

Ice broke on the day she called my name
I was hoping that you would feel the same
You felt the same

Well, you could never find me in the corner of that empty box
Waiting there until it locks you in
Asking the right questions
I thought you learned your lesson
But you didn't and I won’t pay you back

I was shaking by the way she looked as me
I was hoping that we were meant to be
Should have seen this coming miles back down the road
My speeding lies caught up this time

I was hoping that he wasn't going to say this
Can't afford to let my feelings go
Please don't let go

I was hoping
I was hoping
I was hoping that we were meant to be
Meant to be

Shaking by the way she looked at me
Hoping that we were meant to be
Should have seen this coming miles back down the road
My speeding lies caught up this time

Shaking by the way she looked at me
Hoping that we were meant to be
We're meant to be, yeah

Song Meaning"Breaking Hearts was inspired by a girl I dated in high school
who had been in a previous relationship with a guy who got what
we wanted sexually out of her and then left.
I have seen this act multiple times and it breaks my heart.
It's not a game, it's a real person with real feelings.
I felt so sick by the whole situation that I felt the need to write about it.
I say "I was hoping that we were meant to be" because I wanted to be a
light in her dark world. In the second chorus, when I say
"I was hoping that HE wasn't gonna say this," I'm referring
to the guy who got what he wanted out of her.
The idea is that I wish HE hadn't said whatever he
said to convince her that he was a catch. "I can't afford
    to let my feelings go" because I can't ignore this situation;
this may be my only chance to prove myself to this girl who
I cared so much about at the time. But with so many selfish/deviant guys,
it's hard to tell when you can and can't trust one. I wanted this song
to perhaps be a warning to vulnerable people who will encounter
these situations.. Or if someone can relate to this song from past experience,
(which I hope more than anything that they can't relate) they have a song
that tells their story- and they are not alone."
