"All I Have" as written by and Mathew / Kearney....
Here we go at it three years later
Will you help me to dream it all up again
Tired of the same song everyone's singing
Rather be lost with you instead

Don't you come around here
Come around here anymore
Dragging my fears
Dragging my fears
Out the door
All I have
All I have
All I have
Well, you know it's yours
Every breathe
Every step
Every moment
I'm looking for
All I have
All I have
All I have
Is yours
And you watch my heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more

Is it cold yet in New York City?
'Round here the trees been blowing off bare
Everyone's talking about change on the airwaves
I still got you on my breathe

Don't you come around here
Come around here anymore
Dragging my fears
Dragging my fears
Out the door
All I have
All I have
All I have
Well, you know it's yours
Every breathe
Every step
Every moment
I'm looking for
All I have
All I have
All I have
Is yours
And you watch my heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more

Oh I still trying to do my hardest
Pick us all up from the fall oh
Off the little corner of the darkness
Just a crack the light in the middle of it all

All I have
All I have
All I have
Well, you know it's yours
Every breathe
Every step
Every moment
I'm looking for
All I have
All I have
All I have
Is yours
And you watch my heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more
Watching my heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more

Little bit more
Little bit more
Little bit more

General CommentMat Kearney was recently interviewed about the City of Black and White album:

"Well 'All I Have' was the last song that I wrote on the record, and it was how we started the album off. I don't know, we just felt like, 'Here we go at it three years later,' seemed like a fitting first line, almost pushed like unpause on the record and on what I've been doing and what I've been up to. That song, to me, is very much dealing with the sophomore album thing, finding myself again and, all the songs that have been going on, on a year off, and the years I spend on the road. Feels like picking up where I left off."

I personally thnk it's a song talking to God, and talking about all the stuff out there in the world, in the media, in the music world or the "airwaves" and he's just talking to God again on his walk in life. Growing up, maturing, and moving forward.

Song MeaningThis song can be seen in a “God related” mode but also in a more pragmatical and less spiritual way. I’m gonna to explain.
First of all, I want to “analyze” the song by verses.

“Well here we go at it three years later
Will you help me to dream it all up again
Tired of the same song everyone's singing
I'd rather be lost with you instead”

The singer recalls something on the past that happened to him, three years before, with another person —we gonna suppose that is a girl-, then he ask this girl, this unknown person, if is going to help him to “revive” his dream, his illusion again.
He’s tired of the same words that people is always talking and repeating, so he wants, he prefers to “get lost” with this girl. It seems that the singer has some deep feelings with this girl.

“Don't you come around here, come around here anymore
Dragging my fears, dragging my fears out the door”

He says that she never came back; she was the girl who eased his fears, who eased his feelings.

“All I have, all I have, all I have, well, you know it's yours
Every breath, every step, every moment I'm looking for
All I have, all I have, all I have, is yours
And you're watching my heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more
My heart break a little bit more”

All that he haves gives to her, everything, every little thing, a moment, a breath, everything.
Anyway it seems that she “ignores” him and he is blue so his heart breaks every second a little bit, more.

“Is it cold yet in New York City?
'Round here, the trees been blowing up red
And everyone's talking about change on the airwaves
But I still got you on my breath”

It seems that she doesn’t live in the same town, she’s in NYC and he asks in a particular way how is she and what she is doing. He may miss her.
“Lord I'm still trying at this my hardest
Would you pick us all up from a fall
Rip a little corner off the darkness
Just a crack of light in the middle of it all”

He is moaning because he is doing anything he can but he still is ignoring him, he sees that everything is falling apart and he wants to survive, live it all up, he needs some kind of light, some clue, something, to get out of this spiral he’s living on.

That's my point of view ;)
