Hey! Hey!

Hey! Hey!

A man stands alone
Arms across his chest
His heart pounding through his bones
Denial wasn't supposed to be this way

His passion fell to the ground
But beauty couldn't be found
Another way, another way
Well only his answer would tell the story

Three times, were all he had to say yes (say yes)
Say yes, say yeah yeah yeah
But denial seemed so beautiful
Three times, were all he had to say yes (say yes)
But providence took its hold

Hey! Hey!

Tears drown his eyes
A puddle of shame at his feet
As the reflection of guilt
Overwhelms a broken man

Dissent was all he had
And he needed a reason to believe
"This doesn't happen to only me"
Well only his answer would tell the story
(wake up and see we're all the same)

Three times, were all he had to say yes (say yes)
Say yes, say yeah yeah yeah
But denial seemed so beautiful (seemed so beautiful)
Three times, were all he had to say yes (say yes)
But providence took it's hold (providence took it's hold)

An electric pulse you can't escape
A force that rules the human race
Oh, the hand of providence

An electric pulse you can't escape
A force that rules the human race
Tonight the stars tell no fortunes
They tell no fortunes
They tell no fortunes

Three times, were all he had to say yes
Say yes, say yeah yeah yeah
But denial seemed so beautiful (seemed so beautiful)
Three times, were all he had to say "yes
But providence took it's hold (took took took took it's hold)

Three times!
Three times!
Three times!

General CommentI think this song, in my opinion, very obviously talks about Peter's denial of Jesus. Jesus told Peter that Peter would deny him three times: Mark 14:30 "'I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'today–yes, tonight–before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.'"

But Peter said in Mark 14:31, "...'Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.'"

But as Jesus said, Peter did disown Him three times: Mark 14:72 "Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: 'Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times.' And he broke down and wept."

    The definition of providence:
    1. The foreseeing care and guidance of God or nature over the creatures of the earth.
    2. God, esp. when conceived as omnisciently directing the universe and the affairs of humankind with wise benevolence.
    3. A manifestation of divine care or direction.

Jesus didn't tell Peter that he would disown Him three times thinking it as just a possibility. It was already planned out. Jesus knew that Peter would disown Him, but he also knew that Peter wouldn't completely fall away. Everything was planned out so that Peter would be taken care of in the long run.

That's my interpretation of this song.
