What did I do to deserve this?
Tell me the truth and don't lie
You're pretty good at that but, no not this time
You walk around like you run the world,
Running your mouth, and talking about me now,
They think that you're the perfect girl,
The're gonna see everything so get back

[Chrous:]
It's gonna come back around
You know that this town is just too small and not too tall to take this again
You're just to adverse but I got news
You know you're just gonna lose
Everything and everyone that means so much to you.

I'm feeling bad for,
You are alone and nobody cares that you are
One look into your eyes,
Easy to see what you could be but you're not
I say it's time that you give in,
Since it was real, you cannot fulfill, your over
You feel your heart beat deep down
You're in the shame of causing this pain,
Just get out

[Chorus:]
It's gonna come back around
You know that this town is just too small and not too tall take this again
You're just to adverse, but I've got news
You know youre just gonna lose
Everything and everyone that means so much to you.

You keep hearing everything that people say
And you can't take the pain another day
It's coming back around
I told you this town was just small

[End chorus:]
You're just to adverse but you can stop now
It's gonna come back around
And around and around and around and around
Yeah yeah
It's gonna come back around
You know that this town is just too small and not too tall (Too tall)
To take this, take this again [Whoa]
You dress to impress but I've got news
You know you're just gonna lose
Everything and everyone that means so much to you
Everything and everyone that means so much to you
Everything and everyone that means so much to you.

I think it's basically about karma. Whether it's about being stabbed in the back or cheating/bulling like the previous comments said. She's saying that whatever this person is doing to her will 'come back around.' The person will get found out and their true colors will be exposed, people will see that this person isn't who they say they are. It can be interpreted with almost anything anyone's ever done bad to you, just saying 'yeah, you'll get yours one day'

To me this song sounds really personal like betrayal. It sounds like she has something on the girl that's gonna come out to everyone because they're in such a small town. The line where she says look into your eyes see what you could be and where she talks about her lies and her being alone sounds like she knows her well personally.

    Song Meaning

To me this song is about being 'stabbed in the back' by a very close friend, who everyone thinks is perfect and innocent, but is actually very stuck up and pretencious, and Demi is saying that soon everyone will get bored of her bad attitude and she'll be left on her own.

Why hasn't anyone commented this song! I think it's personally, amazing.

I look at this from either way, it could either be about being bullied OR watching someone being cheated on.

"What did I do to deserve this? Tell me the truth and don't lie You're pretty good at that But no, not this time

You walk around like you run the world Running your mouth and talking about me now They think that you're the perfect girl They're gonna see everything So get back"

Basically - she's found out the truth/sick of being bullied, thus the whole "lie" thing and she's about to tell everyone who this girl really is.

"You feel your heart beat deep down Ignoring the shame and causing this pain Just get out"

She's saying here that the person that's bullying/cheating on the person - ignores the remorse and a conscience she'll have for what she's doing.

"It's gonna come back around You know that this town is just too small And I'm too tall to take this again You're just too adverse But I've got news You know you're just gonna lose Everything and everyone that means so much to you"

She's basically saying here, that really - once everyone finds out about what's happened, she will lose everyone and everything around her will collapse.

Well, that's my take on it! I personally love it (: Well done Demi, this is amazing.

ALSO, PLEASE DON'T COMPARE HER TO PARAMORE. PARAMORE IS A BAND. DEMI IS A ONE WOMAN SHOW. THANKS. (:

I feel this song is about her days being bullied, and if people took a step back and looked at there actions then they would see the damage it will cause to someone now or later in life. It can also damage there life later, as thats what they have grown up doing and if they keep on that path then there life will turn out bad. As in KARMA.

I'm pretty sure this is about being bullied, mostly because I know that she used to be bullied, but it was done in a somewhat vague way so it could be interpreted for different things, which is part of what makes it such a well written song because art may have a definite meaning to the author or creator, but come across to someone else in a completely different was and mean something to them that the author or creator had never even thought about.

I think this song is about Demi being bullied by someone quite big in Hollywood (I'm thinking Miley when she had that fued with Demi and Selena) and Demi's basically saying with this song that's she's been through this before, she's been bullied before, and she's not gonna take it again now that she's away from all that and living her dream.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
