"I Won't Tell You" as written by Marco Biazzi, Marco Coti Zelati, Andrea Gaetano Ferro, Christiano Migliore, Cristiano Mozzati, Cristina Scabbia and Don Gilmore....
[Chorus:]
I cannot tell you you're falling apart
Open your eyes if you wanna survive (survive)
I want to tell you your love is a lie
But I won't tell you, I won't tell you

I can't leave this, I am fine inside it
I don't feel bliss and I just keep hiding
I've been burnt so bad but I still play with fire
Sometimes naked truth is what I don't believe in

[Chorus]

I cannot get so deep into this now
I can't admit that I know what I know
And I want to tell you your love is a lie
I won't tell you, I won't tell you

It's hard to hear through the static again
It's never clear until the rush of pain
I'll never tell you I'm living a lie
In this confusion I feel alive

I've been burnt so bad but I still play with fire
Sometimes naked truth is what I can't believe in

[Chorus]

I cannot get so deep into this now
I can't admit that I know what I know
And I want to tell you your love is a lie
I won't tell you, I won't tell you

Don't ever tell me I'm falling apart
Don't ever tell me I will not survive
Don't ever tell me this love is a lie
'cause I'm the lie, I'm the liar

[Chorus]

I cannot get so deep into this now
I can't admit that I know what I know
And I want to tell you your love is a lie
I won't tell you, I won't tell you
I won't tell you

    My InterpretationFirst verse:

She knows she's falling apart but chooses to deny it and stay in the position she's in, as she's deluding herself into thinking she's just fine. She admits that she keeps hiding instead of facing her problems and sorting them out. She states that she's been hurt so badly yet at the same time, she still takes risks with her behaviour and sets herself up for even more pain. ("I've been burnt so bad but I still play with fire")

    Chorus:

Her lover sees that she's falling apart and he loves her so he's trying to save her from herself. He states that because she won't listen to his pleas, he feels that he can no longer try and that he's wasting his time. ("I cannot tell you you're falling apart")

He then tells her that she's blind and will never survive if she doesn't open her eyes. ("Open your eyes if you wanna survive") Afterwards, he states that he knows that her love is a lie and he knows something that she attempted to hide from him. ("I want to tell you your love is a lie..." "I can't admit that I know what I know...")

    Second verse:

She states that it's hard to hear his pleas and his words only become clear when she's in fully blown pain. She says that she doesn't tell him that she is, in fact, living a lie and that she's only alive in her confusion. ("In this confusion, I feel alive...")

    Third verse:

After her lover repeats the same words to her, she finally explodes and tells him to keep out of her business and that he knows nothing but subcounciously, she knows he's right about her but is obviously in denial. ("Don't ever tell me I'm falling apart. Don't ever tell me I will not survive...") She then feels outrage at the fact he knows her love is a lie and admits it to him. ("Don't ever tell me this love is a lie 'cause I am the lie. I am the liar..."

My InterpretationI think this song is about a close friend or jealous lover watching a relationship fall apart from the outside.

General CommentReminds me of a passage from East of Eden. Adam is in love with a girl he doesn't know at all – and who later turns out to be a psychopath. Samuel told him,

“It’s my duty to take this thing of yours and kick it in the face, then raise it up and spread slime on it thick enough to blot out its dangerous light... I should hold it up to you muck-covered and show you its dirt and danger. I should warn you to look closer until you can see how ugly it really is. I should ask you to think of inconstancy and give you examples. I should give you Othello’s handkerchief. Oh, I know I should. And I should straighten you out of your tangled thoughts, show you that the impulse is gray as lead and rotten as a dead cow in wet weather. If I did my duty well, I could give you back your bad old life and feel good about it, and welcome you back to the musty membership in the lodge... It is the duty of a friend. I had a friend who did the duty once for me. But I’m a false friend... It’s a lovely thing, preserve it, and glory in it. And I’ll dig your wells..."
