Well it's close to home by blood or block
I hate the bed and I hate the dock
This loss of life is killing me
Affecting unexpectedly
But what's one more?
Yeah, let me go
Let me suffer nice and slow
The pack is watching patiently
Stand in line to wait and see
But that's the problem
Seeing it coming does nothing 'til it comes
We're deaf until the heavens are beating the drums
And it's too late
Too late, and I don't know when it turned into fate
Unavoidable, so I'll better get prepared
It's too late
I'll take ignorance over being so scared
I'm not coming out of this box
'Til everyone's forgotten me
This ought to be a welcome vacation
I'm not coming out of this box
'Til everyone's forgotten me
My thoughts will be secluded elations
I'm starting to lose track of who's alive
And who has passed on and on and on
And who is here and who is gone
That's the problem
Seeing it coming does nothing 'til it comes
We're deaf until the heavens are beating the drums
And it's too late
Too late, and I don't know when it turned into fate
Unavoidable, so I'll better get prepared
It's too late
I'll take ignorance over being so scared
If anyone here wants to die
Give it a shot, you should try
I've been totally desensitized
These eyes have cried all they can cry
(I'm not coming out of this box
'Til everyone's forgotten me
This ought to be a welcome vacation)
If anyone here wants to die
Give it a shot, you should try
I've been totally desensitized
These eyes have cried all they can cry
(I'm not coming out of this box
'Til everyone's forgotten me
My thoughts will be secluded elations)
If anyone here wants to die
Give it a shot, you should try
I've been totally desensitized
These eyes have cried all they can cry

this song's lyrics are completely beautiful and haunting... i'm in awe of Julia for it.
i'm going to take a shot at some of the lines. if there are others you don't understand, maybe i could help with those too. the only ones i don't fully understand are "I'm not coming out of this box / 'Til everyone's forgotten me / This ought to be a welcome vacation / ... / My thoughts will be secluded elations". i mean, i understand the lines themselves but don't get how they fit into the meaning of the song.
here i go:
Well it's close to home by blood or block -- blood = "close to home", as in, close to your heart, ie blood. block = "close to home", as in, literally near where you live. "it" being death.
I hate the bed and I hate the dock -- this is a guess, but maybe it's 2 ways of dying... bed = peacefully, dock = tragic accident ie drowning...
This loss of life is killing me Affecting unexpectedly -- kind of an irony / play on words. it's neat.
But what's one more? Yeah, let me go Let me suffer nice and slow -- "one more" dead
I'll take ignorance over being so scared -- i'd rather ignore that death has to come than worry about when it's coming.
I think that the "I'm not coming out of this box..." is hiding away. People will forget her, then she can re-emerge when she's ready. Perhaps a welcome vacation because she doesn't want people constantly reminding her of her loss, she'd rather just keep it in. Secluded elations, I've gotta admit, I had to look up the meanings of those words, so this could easily be inaccurate (I may not have understood them well) but perhaps it means... even when something good happens, your thoughts are still haunted by the sadness, so you don't really feel happy.
