"My Friend" as written by and Sara Watkins....
My friend is worn and torn he's badly wounded
I don't know what he really needs
Bring hope to his heart, relief to his mind
Bring hope to his heart, relief to his mind

He lives for love of what he knows
But he cannot put his trust in much anymore
Bring hope to his heart, relief to his mind
Bring hope to his heart, relief to his mind

Keep my friend safe, strengthen his eyes
The night has been long but the dawn is sure to be fine
Bring hope to his heart, relief to his mind
Bring hope to his heart, relief to his mind

Song MeaningThe following is a post found on Pandora comments:
"Her song 'My Friend' was exactly what I needed to help my nephew when he returned from Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He laid on my couch for 4 months and I was on the verge of kicking him out. This song put everything in perspective and shamed me into being both the friend and uncle he needed. Happy to report he is now married, a father, and making his mark in the world. I don't have the words to express my gratitude."
