Oh, we are nothing but what always leave behind
withering into the sun
side color nearest humming bird on a wire
eyeing the cloak of the sun

Yes, we are nothing but what always leave behind
and this Canadian poetries and incantations and a bullet on a ride
I haven't read them, I will not read them
for they dwell too much on times

Yes, the desert is at sea and
I left this bullwhip with the night stand
Julliard was a thousand miles away
Where are you gonna run when the clouds break?

And the sun peaks it eyes with attitude and rises itself on big lust lust
feeling in big ranges rocks
feeling in the big ranges rocks rocks
feeling in the big ranges rocks

It signifies I am being petrified in all the rolling shit we left behind
white pages of ages rocking the paint of ages
looking at your graceless depictions of life

to read
there shall be nothing left to write
and that's when I cannonball them all

I left this bullwhip with the night stand
Julliard you were a thousand miles across when you said it drops
feeling in the big ranges rocks
feeling in the big ranges rocks rocks
feeling in the big ranges rocks uh

la-la-la-la-lum

Lyric CorrectionLOL. This song is almost impossible to make out. Fortunately the liner notes on the CD have the lyrics.

    Oh we are nothing:
but what our words leave behind
are worth the raiment of the sun
Sighed Palinurus, humming "Bird on a Wire",
eyeing the cloth of the sun
Thus we are nothing but what our words leave behind.
Thus collect your poetries and incantations and bullets for the blind
    I haven't read them
    I will not read them
because they dwell too much on signs

    Thus the desert deserts thee:

I left this bullwhip by the nightstand
Julliard was a thousand miles ago
Where you gonna run when the clouds break?
When the sun peaks his eye with attitude and rye,
and you're set upon and lost
lost feeling that the pain of ages rocks...

    Hex signifiers, Iambic petra-fiers
And Roman Shit that we have left behind
I'm gonna plumb the white pages, rocking the pain of ages,
looking at your graceless depictions of light
though when there is there is nothing left to read
there shall be nothing left to write

Baby that's when I get on board and drop

I left this bullwhip by the nightstand...and Julliard...
and your setter drops... feeling that the pain of ages rocks

    All they own they see!
Oh the rain's got to fall

General CommentCarey Mercer is both hilarious, and a fucking genius. The image of Palinurus humming 'Bird On A Wire' sums up the meaning of this song in one line, but i wouldn't expect that many understand what that means, nor do i think Mercer would. I don't want to explain, so here are a couple links.

But none of that accounts for the incredible pairing, nor the coupling of the word 'humming' with the title of a song, the first word of which is 'bird'. Immortality as literature, right? Gilgamesh. You know he's a highschool English teacher? Figures.

General CommentThese are the lyrics as I hear them (I'm not entirely sure, and there are some sections where it's really tough to understand, but at least they might be closer):

Oh we are nothing but what I always leave behind,
    Withering into the sun,
Sighed for the nearest hummingbird on a wire,
Eying the cloth of the sun

Yes, we are nothing but what I always leave behind,
Just collect your poetries and incantations in a bullet for the rhyme,
I haven't read them, I will not read them,
For they dwell too much on signs,
Thus, the desert deserts the eye

I left this bullwhip by the nightstand,
And Julliard was a thousand miles of gold,
Where you gonna run when the clouds break?
And the sun peeks his eye with attitude and rises upon the lost,
Feeling in the pain of ages rocks

That signifies I am that petrifies in rolling shit that we all left behind,
And in the prominent white pages rocking the pain of ages,
Looking at your graceless depictions of light,
Though when there's nothing left to read,
There shall be nothing left to write,
And that's when I head on bored and lost

I left this bullwhip by the nightstand,
And Julliard, you were a thousand miles of gold when you said it drops,
Are you feeling it, the pain of ages rocks,
Feeling in the pain of ages rocks

    All alone they see
Oh, the rain's got to fall
