"In My Teeth" as written by and John Andrew Hull....
I felt a black man in my teeth, what a way
Jesus is coming, he acts my age, and he always looks the same
I said a good seed was on your break wasn't a mistake anyway
Well Jesus is coming better act our age
And clean everything
And make a seem

Like you never really needed it anyway,
Yep you never really needed it anyways, okay, okay

John spoke a theory straight in to my brain
God damn did you mean to do that to me
Well Jesus don't come round
Unless we pray each day for 500 days

I don't know what you want anymore
No, I don't know what you want anymore
So we can see

That you never really needed it anyway
No you never really needed it anyway
So we can see

That the bottom going to bury us anyway
So I am doing what I gotta to stay awake
Yeah I am doing what I gotta to stay awake, okay

What happens when I don't know what happens
What happens when I don't know what happens

Just stop and go and stop and go till you can't go run anymore
Just stop and go and stop and go till you can't go

Make it seem
Like we never really needed it anyway
Yeah we never really needed it anyway

So we can see
That the bottom gonna bury us anyway
Yeah your doing you gotta to stay awake
Yeah I am doing what I gotta to stay awake

General CommentI think he is talking about how hypocritical people are. By saying "make it seem like you never really needed it" he is saying that people are ridiculous because they try to cover up their need for salvation. I feel that he is trying to say that people just need to live and have fun and not worry "make it seem" like they never needed any help in getting to heaven. Maybe he is saying that the whole purpose of God was to save us because we couldn't do it ourselves and therefore its absolutely stupid to try and create an appearance that we didn't need God's grace. As far as the "doin what i gotta to stay awake" he could be referring to staying alive or he could be referring to his spiritual life like hes doing just what he feels he has to to get into heaven. I think he's trying to say that God gave us grace for a reason so we should accept that and not make such a fuss about looking perfect or whatever because whether you appear perfect or you screwed up and did the bare minimum you are gonna get to the same place. I don't know thats just what I get out of it. More of a laugh at the hypocrisy of the people in church than totally denying God in full.

General CommentColdcampbells, I saw it as how black preachers are usually so fierce and powerful and influential, so he's saying that he was speaking/feeling in a similar manner.

Not sure if that's what Andy meant, though.

General CommentIs it just me or do i sense a hint of nirvana in this album? I suppose you could say that for a lot of today's bands but still. I love Manchester Orchestra.
