So we all
Are growing old
And it's getting old

Pressure on
Our hollow bones
and the varicose

Suddenly
We decompose
But we're not alone

So we all
Are growing old

Maybe we're sealed in silence
And maybe we feel a guidance
Maybe your own devices
Will keep you afraid and cold
But i

Memorized
Your smile lines
From left to right

Came to life
And childlike
Reaction time

We're allowed
To expire
With ourselves in mind

So we all
Are growing old

Pull out the fear of silence
And put out the need for guidance
And put out your own devices
And don't be afraid of the cold

And we sing, sing, sing.
Fight, we fight, fight.
We cry, cry, cry.
We slide, slide, we slide into the light.

We sing, fight, we cry.
we slide, slide, we slide into the light.

Maybe we're sealed in silence
And maybe we feel a guidance
Maybe your own devices
Will keep you afraid and cold, well.

Pull out the fear of silence
Put out the need for guidance
Put out your own devices
And don't be afraid of the cold
Afraid of the cold
Afraid of the time
You've got no where to go but here.

General CommentI think it's about realizing that we are getting older, and that death, inevitably, is coming for us. It explores some of the uncertainties about what could be waiting beyond death, such as a cold, silent nothing, or guidance from a divine higher power that will bring us into some sort of afterlife.

I don't think it's meant to be depressing, but rather as encouragement to live your life and be who you are because one day, you are going to die. You're not supposed to fear death, just accept it because whatever it is, it is. Life is a fact, and death is a fact.

General CommentI'm pretty sure (candlelight) is "came to life". After "To expire", I'm pretty sure it's "With ourselves in mind".

I have no idea what varicose is supposed to be though. I definitely hear an n in there some where, sort of sounds like "barren colds", or coats, or something, but I really don't know.

General Commentre: the lyrics : I'm pretty sure it is
    "Pressure on
    Our hollow bones
    and the varicose"

but could be wrong. It just sounds very similar plus varicose is a word used for veins typically in OLD people, veins that have gotten knotty and I'm sure you remember as a kid seeing the veins in your grandma's legs... those were varicose ;)

My interpretation of this song is again based off what a good shoegaze/dreampop song does to you: makes you feel like you're asleep then you wake up. it is also important to me to note that psychologists suggest something called a collective unconscious and that would be basically what we all dream about and this band is definately trying to tap into that vein (heheh, a varicose vein!) by using a theme like "getting old".

the lyrics are telling us to stay young although we are growing old!

General CommentThis song is amazing. The lyrics are genius and like someone else said, pretty self-explanatory. I love how Swoon is so less cryptic than Carnavas, while still remaining beautiful and poetic. This song is the perfect example of that. <3

General CommentI think the entire song is a metaphor for living in the present. And within that present existence, trusting your morals because you know them to be right, not because anything beyond yourself says you should. Then there is nothing to fear in death, only the peace of knowing your life occurred exactly is it should have in every moment.

General CommentI really love this song... I think it's really awesome how they incorporate people growing old in the beginning and end of the song, and also new life in the middle of it all. "We sing, fight, cry" and "We slide into the light" definitely relates to a baby being born. How anxious we are to get into the world and how fearful we are of leaving it. We shouldn't be afraid of the cold because we tried so hard to leave the warmth. This song is epic live, as well!

    Lyric CorrectionInstead of:
    Memorized
    Your smile lines
    From left to right

    It should be:
Memorized you smile lines when lips divide

    And:
    Came to life

    And it's:
We slide into delight instead of 'the light'
    And childlike
    Reaction time

    should be:
Kept alive your childlike reaction time
