Do you think you know exactly where I'm coming from?
Do you?
If I invited you into my mind to live there for a day
Would you?
You make faces when I won't be who you want me to be
And you blame me for all your emotions
But don't you see who owns them?

I'm on my own, I'm all alone in this world
Can't find my home, wandering through this blizzard
People make it hard for me to show my true emotions
But at the end of the day, I don't answer to them

You think you can tell me how to feel, cause it's logical
But you're not the feeling police and I am not a criminal
We're all struggling on this path of life, and what we need
Is to stick together as humankind and be all that we can be
I think we all have a dream

I'm on my own, I'm all alone in this world
Can't find my home, wandering through this blizzard
People make it hard for me to show my true emotions
But at the end of the day, I don't answer to them

Run, I want to run, I want to run, I want to run, I want to
Run, I want to run, I want to run, I want to run, I want to

I'm on my own, I'm all alone in this world
Can't find my home, wandering through this blizzard
People make it hard for me to show my true emotions
But at the end of the day, I don't answer to them
I'm on my own, I'm all alone in this world
Can't find my home, wandering through this blizzard
People make it hard for me to show my true emotions
But at the end of the day...

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
