"Embers" as written by and Jack Christopher Allsopp....
The facts and the figures
They overwhelm and stifle
Everything that you thought you knew

The facts and the figures
They overwhelm and stifle
From the very first breath you drew

The facts and the figures
They overwhelm and stifle
And the petty decisions
That you think make a difference

So tiny that they blow away like dust
So tiny that they blow away like dust
So tiny that they blow away like dust

Through all the devilish things we do
Through all the devilish things we do
Through all the devilish things we do
Through all the devilish things we do

Through all the devilish things we do
(I can't help my stupid hopes)
Through all the devilish things we do
(I can't help my stupid hopes)
Through all the devilish things we do
(I can't help my stupid hopes)

Through all the devilish things we do
(I can't help my stupid hopes)
Through all the devilish things we do
(I can't help my stupid hopes)

Facts and the figures
The overwhelming stifling
Everything that you thought you knew

So tiny that they blow away like dust
We are all embers from the same fire
We are all embers from the same fire
We are all embers from the same fire
We are all embers from the same fire

My InterpretationI honestly cannot believe that nobody has left a comment yet...I'm in complete and utter shock. This song is probably one of the best songs of 2009 along with Walking on a dream by Empires of the sun and Sleepyhead by Passion Pit.

I think the meaning of this song is pretty self-explanatory; we all come from the same thing (we are all embers from the same fire.) the video also emphasises this point by showing a time line from the beginning of man 'till today. I reckon the 'through of the devilish things we do' part of the song is refering to the evil that man has created and the 'petty decisions we think will make a difference' part of the song refers to the fact that man wants to make a lasting change but really we, as well as our decisions, are so tiny that we blow away like dust just like 'embers'. Our ideaa don't make a difference because it has already happened before hence the repetitiveness of the song.

    Another Great Just Jack track.

PS i think the lyrics are slightly wrong: I think it's 'The fact and the figures they overwhelm and stifle everything...' instead of 'The overwhelming stifling' as this doesn't make much sense.

General Commenti have to say that if this is the kind of songs he'll have in his 3rd album, i can't wait for it.

General CommentI really like this song. I've never heard of Just Jack but I fell in love with this song when I heard it on Gossip Girl...I hear sooo many good songs from that show.
