Stevie was a connoisseur
Everybody wanted to be her
She chose her friends as carefully as she chose her words
She was so sure about it all

Oh Stevie was a hero once
Had all the things I'd never touch
She wrote in sterling silver with a ballpoint pen
Cold blooded chameleon

Oh Stevie, oh Stevie
Why can't you see
You're a god to me

Oh Stevie, oh Stevie
Why can't you see
You're a god to me

Stevie was an ice maiden
Not sure really worth saving
Alcatraz has nothing on her after all this time
Still I didn't search behind those eyes

Oh Stevie where are you going to
Oh you're as tight lipped as a bottle all screwed
If I had the chance to peer inside your mind
Give up your mystery, why think twice

Oh Stevie, oh Stevie
Why can't you see
You're a god to me

Oh Stevie, oh Stevie
Why can't you see
You're a god to me

Tea-leaves in the cup
You're a good friend of mine
How the sober are
Thirsty for the sweet wine

Now that Stevie has locked her keys in her mind
Got to open up, lay herself on the line (lay herself on the line)

Tea-leaves in the cup
You're a good friend of mine
How the sober are
Thirsty for the sweet wine

Now that Stevie has locked her keys in her mind (in her mind)
Got to open up, lay herself on the line (lay herself on the line)

Tea-leaves in the cup
You're a good friend of mine
How the sober are
Thirsty for the sweet wine

Oh Stevie, oh Stevie
Why can't you see
You're a god to me

Oh Stevie, oh Stevie
Why can't you see
Oh give in to me

It seems to be about a friend who she idolises because of her mystery.

I always thought it was about someone she knew in school,

someone who she really admired because she seemed to have it all,

but who she later found out was going through some difficult stuff ?

    I dunno..... just an idea

I heard her talking on the radio about it, and its about one of her friends who she was friends with for a very long time and then they had a falling out and she wrote this song about her to show her how much she means to her.

    the lyrics are actually:

Stevie was a connoisseur, Everybody wanted to be her, She chose her friends just as carefully, As she chose her words, She was so sure about it all.

Oh, Stevie was a hero once, Had all the things I'd never touched, She wrote in sterling silver, With a ballpoint pen, A cold-blooded chameleon.

Oh, Stevie, oh, Stevie, Why can't you see, You're a god to me. Oh, Stevie, oh, Stevie, Why can't you see, You're a god to me.

Stevie was an ice maiden, Naturally worth saving, Alcatraz has nothing on her, After all this time, Still a dead-end search behind those eyes.

Oh, Stevie where you going to, Oh, you're as tight-lipped as a bottle screw, But if I had the chance, To peer inside your mind, And give up your mystery, I'd think twice.

Oh, Stevie, oh, Stevie, Why can't you see, You're a god to me. Oh, Stevie, oh, Stevie, Why can't you see, You're a god to me.

Tea leaves in the cup, You're a good friend of mine, How the sober are thirsty, For the sweet wine.

Oh, now that Stevie has locked her keys in her mind, Oh, got to open up, Lay heself on the line (lay herself on the line).

Tea leaves in the cup, You're a good friend of mine, How the sober are thirsty, For the sweet wine.

Oh, now that Stevie has locked her keys in her mind (in her mind), Oh, got to open up, Lay heself on the line (oh, lay herself on the line).

Tea leaves in the cup, You're a good friend of mine, How the sober are thirsty, For the sweet wine.

Oh, Stevie, oh, Stevie, Why can't you see, You're a god to me. Oh, Stevie, oh, Stevie, Why can't you see, Oh, give in to me.

Yes i think this song is about someone who lisa knew who seemed to be perfect in every way but as she got to know the girl more she began to realise that she wasnt as perfect as she seemed.

This song is beautiful and one of my favourites on the album. its really sweet and reminds me of a friend i had named Stevie, of whom i also had a falling out with.

So whenever i listen to this song it reminds me of her.

Basically, its about a girl Lisa was friends with, someone Lisa obviously idolised, but they had a falling out and she misses her.

"Tea leaves in the cup, you're a good friend of mine" - she's sure there's no doubt about it. "How the sober are thirsty for the sweet wine" - she misses her friend now she's no longer there. Wine is a metaphor for Stevie and sober is Stevie's absence.

i remember lisa saying at a gig that she had a falling out with her best friend and that's what this song was about. i think they were best friends but the friend got really protective especially after she became famous and she suddenly had a lot of new friends. it sounds like stevie just stopped talking to her all of a sudden and lisas trying to tell her that she still holds their friendship in high regard. it sounds like stevie is a very conservative friend and didnt approve.

When I saw her in London last year she said it was about her ex best friend but she chaned the name so she didn't know it was about her, those were exactly her words

So... nobody thinks this song could be about Stevie Nicks..? I'd always had a hunch. It's probably wrong. Just an idea.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
