"100 Dollars" as written by and John Andrew Hull....
Several Women's magazines
Stacked up on top of a picture of me
When I tried to call
No one answered

It's not even that I'm all angry
Just wanna know why you would do this thing
You said, theres an understanding

I offer you a small dog in the kitchen
I just wanted you to feel at home

And that's why I'm fine
I am fine, I am fine, I am fine
I just need 100 dollars
And I am fine, I am fine, I am completely fine
I just need 100 dollars
From you
And you and you
And you and you

Song MeaningAs a couple people have already mentioned, Andy Hull says, "This song is about this time, just because I think it's funny enough, the first time I lost my sh** in front of my wife was when I lost $100. My dad gave me a hundred dollar bill in the kitchen of my parents' house and by the time that I had made it to the car outside I had lost this hundred dollar bill and it was one of those things were like you freak out but it's in no way about the one hundred dollar bill at all. So this song is about that."

I'm curious, though, does anyone know what the lyrics "I offer you a small dog in the kitchen" refer to? My fiance and I have been trying to figure it out. A hotdog? A chihuahua? How would that make someone feel at home? Anyone have any ideas?

Lyric CorrectionI believe it is "I offered you a small dog in the kitchen" not "offer".

General Commentvery specific, but i did see an interview of this song
and he basically said that he had just gotten 100 dollars from his parents, or his wifes parents or something lol
and, well, go figure, he loses it. and it was "just one of those things that starts to not be the only problem, it adds to so many other things"
    it's hard to rephrase it.
but when i first heard it, i felt something so much more powerful about this song.

General CommentThis song is great. It's short, but great. Andy said it's about how he and his wife lost 100 dollars one time. He wasn't mad about it or anything, just a little confused of where it went.
