Exiles and strangers
Living in danger
Hollywood faces
Can you take it to the races

She's the devil made of coal
Truth's that nobody knows
He's a gambler and a cheat
He got very small feet
He got very small feet

If there is forgiveness
I haven't seen it
Don't let your friends
Fall to pieces

[Chorus]
Another night in the hills (another night in the hills)
On a buffet of pills (la la la la)
True work of art
Is how we got his far

Exiles and strangers
See black beat braces
I have 26 problems
I want you to have them

She likes cocaine
Right over my brain
She's the one to get famous
She the movers and shakers (shakers)

If there is forgiveness
I haven't seen it
Don't let your friends
Fall to pieces

[Chorus]

True work of art
Is how we got his far [Repeat: x 2]

What!

I used to work for the government
But I became ambivalent
I used to think that I cared
Then I got

[Foreign Language]

[Chorus]

Another night in the hills
Another night in the hills
Another night in the hills
How did we get this far

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
