Well i woke up and my mouth was a little dry
so i grab moisturizer and try not to cry
spoke to my hand and then started to dream.
You came into my bed and i tied you up
we went underneath and i thought you're the cop
while people were watching how you and me breathe.

And i got lost in the warm
And i got lost in the hole
And i got lost in the arms
The softness i stolen was never round to be left

So i got addicted to watching the screen
like kids today i can't picture sex clean
and all the time the body slowly broke apart
Noone knows no more how to cum inside
Its all about the dirt we hide and our pride
and tissues become our slow and wasted heart

We'll get lost in the warm
We'll get lost in the hole
We'll get lost in our arms
The softness we stole was never about the love

Ladies on the screen can never replicate
All the fightin' and lyin' that skin doctors hate
We must fold eyes before we even kiss
The joy, the joy used to be in all the books.
Kids today think that hookers are the hook
And hearts beat better in a bed when they're missed

And they'll get lost in the warm
And they'll get lost in the holes
And they'll get lost in the arms
The softness they stole will never ever be able to love

    General CommentAMAZING song.
    kevin drew is a god.

the song is basically summed up in the title, Love vs. Porn.
its about how the masses have been desensitized by mass media (in this case, pornography) and because of this, sex is no longer a beautiful act.

General CommentWhen I first saw this song on the Dark Was the Night tracklist, I thought wow, here's the archetypal Kevin Drew song... it's basically what he's been singing about in songs all along, not to mention what he's said in his Pitchfork interviews, and the video he put up on his website before Spirit If... came out. He's kindof resigned to his attraction to porn, he's been looking at it for so long he feels... the lyrics are actually alot less obtuse than they are usually for kevin, so i really dont feel like breakin
em down, i'll just be taking the piss outta em.

    General Commenti hear it as:

"So i got addicted to watching the screen
like kids today i can't picture sex clean"

    and then:

"Ladies on the screen can never replicate
All the fightin' and lyin' that skin doctors hate"

which i assume is a reference to all the arguments and stress in a relationship giving a person skin problems, but i dunno if thats even true

General CommentAmazing what Kevin Drew puts down here in these lyrics. The heart of a person is slowly destroyed both literally and in their spirit by porn and masturbation. We have opened our doors wide to sadness and early death in the name of pleasure, inhibition, freedom of speech, and high download speeds.

It's good to see Kevin Drew honestly and artistically ring this warning bell.

    My InterpretationI think its:

Ladies on the screen can never replicate
All the fat in a line with skin doctors hate
We must fold eyes before we even kiss

Talking about plastic surgery and women feeling ugly compared to those on the screen?
