you could say it's my instinct
yes, i still have one
there's no time to second guess it
yes, there are things that i'm still so afraid of
but my courage is roaring like the sound of the sun
cause it's vain about its mane
and will reveal them to no one

now i'm an animal
you're an animal, too

pick up that rock (drink from that lake)
i do my best but i'm made of mistakes
yes, there are things i'm still quite sure of
i love you this hour
this hour today
and heaven will smell like the airport (airport)
but i may never get there to prove it
so let's not waste our time thinking how that ain't fair

i'm an animal
you're an animal, too

you're an animal, too

yes, there are things that i'm still so afraid of
but my courage is roaring like the sound of the sun

    you're an animal, too

    pick up that rock
    (tramp through that lake)
i did my best but i'm made of mistakes

General CommentHudsucker, you're mostly right, but the first stanza ends thusly:

'cause it's vain about its mane
and will reveal them to no one

Her courage, which she characterizes as "roaring" -- like a lion -- is too proud (vain about its mane) to reveal them (the things she's still so afraid of) to anyone.

I ADORE this song -- love the drums, and love the way she sounds on the chorus. I am wondering, though, why the hell she thinks heaven will smell like the airport.

    General Commenti hear:

    pick up that rock
    (chew through that leg)

like a wolf or fox caught in a trap will gnaw through its leg to escape.

General CommentI have to wonder if this song is partly about... you know... (whisper) doing it. Or: being carnal without being concerned about the consequences.

Song MeaningI watched an 'The Interface' podcast on iTunes of Neko singing this song - as well as others. She clearly says "and will reveal them to no one" and "pick up that rock (drink from that lake)". What was great about this clip was that it's just her, Paul and Kelly and they sound awesome. I like the interview portion as well and of course she looks radiant.
