The wicked cane
That you play so good
I'm falling high
Just like you knew I would

This wont last
It's to good
I can't stop but I know I should

[Chorus]
Days of the war and the nights of love
Head is on fire and I'm on the run
Dancing with the devil in the midnight sun
I'm falling in love
I'm coming undone
I'm coming undone(I'm coming undone)

Out of my head
In a memory of you
I'll never forget
What you put me through

It wasn't right of what you did
But I was just as wrong as you

[Chorus]

Days of the war and the nights of love
Head is on fire and I'm on the run
Dancing with the devil in the midnight sun
I'm out of my head
I'm coming undone

[Bridge]
I'm on the outside lookin in
I turned my back on myself again
I'm on the ledge I'm falling out

Somebody better come and tuck me down
I said I'm never do it again
But then I'm keep on givin it in
I gotta turn my world around
Because it keeps on knocking me down

Knockin me down
It felt wrong
It felt good

This wont last
I wish you would
It wasn't right what you did
But I was just as wrong as you

[Chorus]

Days of the war and the nights of love
Head is on fire and I'm on the run
Dancing with the devil in the midnight sun
I'm out of my head
I'm coming undone

I'm on the outside looking in
I turned my back on myself again
I'm on the ledge I'm falling out
Somebody better come and tuck me down

I swear I never do it again
But than I keep on giving in
I gotta turn my world around
Because it keeps on knocking me down

Knocking me down
Knocking me down
Knocking me down
Yeah

great song =] not the best off the record but still pretty effing amazing. this song is pretty much about drugs it seems like. you could interpret it as a relationship gone wrong, but it seems like he's addicted to the drugs and can't stop the vicious circle. "i swear i'll never do it again, but then i keep on giving up, i gotta turn my world around because it keeps on knocking me down" yeah.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
