God said it's fortunate
how the noose surrounds your neck
Christ says its blasphemy
how the devil is heaven sent
and Hitler painted Christmas scenes
of ice caps on the snow

And I forgot to breathe

Now that Earth has flipped around
from ozone
to mire
And the last dependable thing
is that my newspaper arrives at five
and I'm on the short end
of the ugly stick
for being fascist
not sure what i believe in
but i'm sure of what i don't
cause it doesn't deserve it

i'm the shiver man here
trapped in your father's ford
in your back seats I'll fuss around
got nothing good to do
except wait alone
home

a gravel road runs beside
a rusty wire fence
the evening sun cuts past
the cracks of public trees
and something moves in the ditch
beneath the weeds
the birds forget to sing
as the tractor roars
fortitude
wants a lie

brace the stock between your knees
like you've done before
put barrel in your mouth
much like you deserve
I deserve far worse

I'm the shiver man here
trapped in your father's ford
in your backseats I'll fuss around
got nothing good to do
except wait alone
so alone

you should have went "wait, wait"

I'm the one you claim to love
yet I'm alone
in your back seats
I will wake up cold
I'm all alone
in your back seats
I will wake up cold
I'm all alone
in your back seats
I will wake up cold

one more step
to turn the hand of god
from divine
to planned
flips upside down
shiver man
you could have jumped in
from the mezzanine
to plunge or fly

General CommentAll of these songs I posted from "Black Umbrella" were by ear, so if anyone has any corrections or comments, please feel free to post them.

I'd just like to add that of the 1500 albums or so that I have that "Black Umbrella" is one of my top 10 albums, ever.
