You've stripped me down, the layers fall like rain
It's over now, just innocence and instinct still remain
You watched me while I slowly disappeared
I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear

[Repeat: x4]
Take it all away

Circling the pain inside my soul
I reached inside your silence to steal what you won't show
I tried to find the answers in my fears
But what was found is lost again as soon as it appeared

[Repeat: x4]
Take it all away

I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?

[Repeat: x10]
You take away

    My Interpretation

I this song is very sad. It brings tears to my eyes and gives me a feeling that no other Red song gives me. It is really different from thier other songs because it harbors a different kind of sadness in the first half of the song. It's more of a numbing depression, and the second half is powerful, it just hits you with the strings and it explodes from there.

My interpretation is that the first half the song is about how a person will go to people when they are feeling hopeless and no matter how hard they try to reach out for help, no one does.

"You watched me while I slowly disappeared I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear"

The second verse was a little confusing but it still seems to be trying to reach out for someone that's not there.

"I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?"

This lyric points out the lowpoint of this song. One last plea, to anyone who even bothers to listen. The singer is begging for someone to help him, he is broken and he doesn't want to be alone. And then you hear the strings, the change just gives me chills. The person that interevenes has to be God, he "Takes Away" the pain just to save the singer in time. I liked how they used the chorus in this song. At first it sounds like a desperate plea but then it conveys such a different message that is filled with hope. This is one of the best songs by Red but it is so under-rated! rock on!
