"Take It All Away" as written by Jasen Rauch and Rob Graves....
You've stripped me down, the layers fall like rain
It's over now, just innocence and instinct still remain
You watched me while I slowly disappeared
I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear

[Repeat: x4]
Take it all away

Circling the pain inside my soul
I reached inside your silence to steal what you won't show
I tried to find the answers in my fears
But what was found is lost again as soon as it appeared

[Repeat: x4]
Take it all away

I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?

[Repeat: x10]
You take away

General Commentthis song for me is about how person has so many problems and they keep reaching out to the peolple around them but they cant do any thing for them..."I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear"... they are stuck in their misery with no help...

untill they come to God..."Im breaking; I cant do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?"

If you listen this is the part where the song builds...this represents the change in the persons life that is happening...God is healing them and He took their pain away..."You take away"

General CommentThis song is so sad. I do not know the interpretation fully, but very generally I think it shows someone who has been trying to deal with all of their problems on their own. They finally realize that they can't, that they need someone's help, and then they realize that there is no one there to help them.

General CommentThis song is very sad, and yet also provides hope. To me it sounds like the singer is going through so many struggles in life, and when he goes to get help, the people he thought would help wouldn't because he's been shouldering these struggles by himself for so long he's grown distant from everyone he cared about. So he decides to turn to God (unfortunately, as a last resort) and God DOES help him with his problems.

    "You take away
    You take away
    You take away"

Of course, God wasn't my immediate thought as I heard this song (even though I'm Christian). But after I listened to it a couple of times, I got the meaning.

Though, this song could easily be interpreted differently. It could be about him shouldering so many struggles, then he goes to the one he loves, but they won't help him (for an unknown reason). He becomes so depressed that he gives up on trying to find someone (though he's still screaming on the inside for help), and he's so far gone that it's to the point where he's all alone and that he has no friends and he isn't close with his living family.

"I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?"

But then he meets someone (probably another lover) and they actually care about him. They get so close that he tells her about his problems and she helps him through them.

I, personally, think it's the first interpretation I offered in this post, but that's my opinion.=)

My InterpretationI this song is very sad. It brings tears to my eyes and gives me a feeling that no other Red song gives me. It is really different from thier other songs because it harbors a different kind of sadness in the first half of the song. It's more of a numbing depression, and the second half is powerful, it just hits you with the strings and it explodes from there.

My interpretation is that the first half the song is about how a person will go to people when they are feeling hopeless and no matter how hard they try to reach out for help, no one does.

"You watched me while I slowly disappeared
I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear"

The second verse was a little confusing but it still seems to be trying to reach out for someone that's not there.

"I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?"

This lyric points out the lowpoint of this song. One last plea, to anyone who even bothers to listen. The singer is begging for someone to help him, he is broken and he doesn't want to be alone. And then you hear the strings, the change just gives me chills. The person that interevenes has to be God, he "Takes Away" the pain just to save the singer in time. I liked how they used the chorus in this song. At first it sounds like a desperate plea but then it conveys such a different message that is filled with hope. This is one of the best songs by Red but it is so under-rated! rock on!

    General CommentJust a guess.........

I'm looking at this as if he is having a conversation with two different people. Verse 1 and 2 are to a person. a sense of betrayal,
"You watched me while I slowly disappeared
I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear"

He feels like he has been betrayed and he is feeling hurt. Verse 2 he is trying to understand why this person would do this to him,

"Circling the pain inside my soul
I reached inside your silence to steal what you won't show
I tried to find the answers in my fears
But what was found is lost again as soon as it appeared"

The chorus is him talking to God, asking him to take the hurt away.

    Take it all away
    Take it all away
    Take it all away
    Take it all away

The bridge is and admittance that he needs God to help him.

I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?

My InterpretationThis is just my opinion/interpretation of the song.

It sounds like an experience between two people. In my opinion it doesn't necessarily have to be between two people that like/love each other, it could be between two close friends or maybe a person trying to simply understand another.

The first person tries to take apart the other person layer by layer: "You've stripped me down, the layers fall like rain."
    In doing so,

"You watched me while I slowly disappeared
I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear."

Maybe the first person discovered something shocking about the other; they simply watched as the other disappeared because they didn't know what to do or what to say: "frozen in your fear."
However, both people have issues they are struggling to deal with. It's kind of like throughout the song/lyrics, they try to understand and try to 'fix' eachother.

The first person tried to find out what the other is hiding inside- why they won't show what they feel to the outside world. ""I reached inside your silence to steal what you won't show."
They thought they had some sort of idea, but didn't want to trust their assumptions, or simply didn't want to believe what they thought- "I tried to find the answers in my fears"
However, whatever they uncovered from the person keeps on slipping out of their grasp whenever they come close to finding something.- "But what was found is lost again as soon as it appeared."

The second person is asking the other to "Take it all away", to somehow make everything better and solve the current problem, even though they reveal nothing and don't want to give away anything about themselves.

"I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own"- These two people are obviously both struggling with their lives. At least one of them feels that they're entering a mental breakdown, and feels that they are unable to carry on without help.
"Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?" It's almost like a contradiction- The person wants someone to help them, but at the same time doesn't want to give anything away about them to anyone else. They want help, but they don't want help- they don't want anyone to come to close.

Again, this is only my take on it. Kind of doesn't make that much sense *reads over*
