"Man on the Moon" as written by and Jason Chung Scott Mescudi....
I never gave a fuck
I never a fuck about what niggas thought about me
I mean I did but like fuck it you know'm sayin
You gon' love me man
You gon' love me man

They can't comprehend
Or even come close to understanding him
I guess if I was borin' they would love me more
Guess if I was simple in the mind
Everything would be fine
Maybe if I was jerk to girls
Instead of being nice and speakin' kind words
Then maybe it would be OK to say then
I wasn't a good guy to begin with

But my mind is all crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy
They got me thinkin I ain't human,
Like I came in from above, above, above, above
Feelin like a airplane in the sky
But then they say I'm crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy
They got me thinkin I ain't human,
Like I came in from above, above, above, above
Feelin' like a bird sittin' high high

I be that man on the moon
I'm that man on the moon
And i'm a do what I do
so do you hey hey
I be posted with my blunt and a brew my dude
I'm that man on the moon
I'm up up on the moon

Its like I,
I'm a play my stuff for everybody
And you know all my people
Give me feedback
you know and they'll be like
yo, yo, why, why your shit sound so different
Know'm saying why why your shit like on 'nother level
why it sound so diffrenet like its bad thing
And i be like why not?
Nigga, haha

Close my eyes, hide in the dark
It's a curtain call, come one come all
All I do is try to make it simple
The ones that make it complicated
Never get congratulated
I'm somethin' different in all aspects
Don't want a woman just to love her assets
I still wife her up even with her flat chest
The type to get hurt
But that's the past tense

My mind is all hazy, hazy, hazy, hazy
I be thinkin' that I'm bomb,
'cause they used to call me lame, lame, lame, lame
But my swagg was a little different
But then my mind is hazy, hazy, hazy, hazy
I be thinkin that I'm wrong,
But they the ones who blame, blame, blame, blame
I got the last laugh nigga

I be that man on the moon
I'm that man on the moon
And i'm a do what I do
so do you hey hey
I be posted with my blunt and a brew my dude
I'm that man on the moon
I'm up up on the moon

My Interpretation"I never gave a fuck
I never a fuck about what niggas thought about me
I mean did but fuck it yummzsayin"
Basically he's saying that he puts out an attitude like he doesn't care what you think but on the inside he really cares about what you think.

    "They can't comprehend
or even come close to understanding him"
He's saying you don't understand him and you can't because he has struggles beyond your comprehension.

"I guess if I was boing they would love me more
Guess if I was simple in the mind
    Everything would be fine"
He goes so complex into describing how he feels and with this he's saying if he didn't that way if he didn't go through the struggles that he faces then, maybe people would like him more and everything would be fine.

"Maybe if I was jerk to girls
Instead of being nice and speakin kind words
But then maybe it would be ok to say then
I wasn't a good guy to begin with"
He's basically saying he treats women with respect and loves them but in the end they end up hurting him even though he didn't do anything to hurt them.

"But now my mind is all crazy, crazy, crazy...
They gat me thinkin ine human,
Like I came in from above, above, above...
Feelin like a airplane in the sky
But then they say I'm crazy, crazy, crazy...
They gat me thinkin ine human,
Like I came in from above, above, above...
Feelin like a bird sittin high"
He's trying to put to words how he is feeling. He feels like things aren't real like he's living in a fantasy and thinks he's going crazy because he can't find an explanation to what is going on with himself. It sound as if he is having feelings of depersonalization and/or derealization.

"I be that man on the moon
I'm that man on the moon
And imma do what I do so
    Do you hey hey
I be posted with a blunt and a brew my dude
I'm that man on the moon
I'm up up on the moon"
He tries to escape himself by using drugs primarily weed. And again he feels like he's going crazy.. he feels different than everyone else like possibly an alien hence his nickname for himself "man on the moon." He uses his drugs to get his spirits up also another reason for his nickname.

"Close my eyes, hide in the dark
It's a curtain call, come one come all"
Not exactly sure about this part to be honest. I'm still analyzing it.

"All I try to do is make it simple
The ones that make it complicated
    Never get congratulated"
He tries to explain how he feels as vividly as he can but he doesn't understand what's going on with himself. But he rarely gets congratulated because he can find any simple way to put it.

"I'm sumtin different in all aspects
Don't want a woman jus to love her assets
Still wife her up even with her flat chest
    The type to get hurt
    But that's the past tense"
He's not like everyone else he's not gonna try and get the hottest girl he can find. He wants one he loves even if she's not the prettiest or that has been used and hurt a lot but, he doesn't want them to be hurt in the future because he has respect for them.

"But now my mind is all hazy, hazy, hazy...
I be thinkin that I'm wrong,
Becuz they used to call me lame, lame, lame...
But my swag was a little different
But now my mind is all hazy, hazy, hazy...
I be thinkin that I'm wrong,
But they the ones that blame, blame, blame...
I gat the last laugh nigga"
He is saying he's not sure about things in his mind because he feels like he's not right because he used to get sh*t for being different. But now he's the one on top not them.

General CommentThe meaning basically is he was mistreated in his early years, before he was famous. In this song he is trying to explain how he was treated like he was alien, hence "From above, above, above, above..."
he explains it more thorough throughout the song. These lyrics are off, and they don't include a couple parts of the song. when he says, "You gon' love me man..." meaning that when hes famous they will love his songs and regret how they treated him. He closes the song by saying how he was called lame, but he has a life, hes rich and fly, and hes awesome, and they are the ones who are lame....

This may be inaccurate, its my interpretation of it... cause it could be a true life story for him, and maybe this is how he was inspired to create this song, to rub it in the haterz faces.

He is all fly n shyt , but they made him feel alien, you know? so hes fly and cool, but so good he really is out of this world, thats how rockin his style is, hence... "Man on The Moon"

General Commentwell the lyrics in this shit are completely off someone must not be a true cudi fan, but I agree with CGrizzy's reply. any fan of his music can find a way to relate to him in your own way. he is a musical genius. love this song and the fact that he is a rapper with musicality. something i can respect.

General Commenti always thought he was saying "i be posted with my blunt in a room, i do"

either way, fucking awesome song. my fav of his. a 'fuck you' to the haters, he made it despite all the shit he got for being different and having a different style.

General Commenti think this song can relate to fame.
"Like I came in from above, above, above...
Feelin like a bird sittin high"

like how when you're famous, people put you on a pedestal. they think you're perfect, like you're a God from heaven. So i think he is writing about how people have a misconception of him; he's really just like everyone else.

General CommentI feel like he is writing about how everybody doubted him. Making fun of him just cause he is different. Even though his different is so god damn refreshing to everyone that listens to it. He basically is saying fuck all of you haters I don't give a fuck and I am gonna rap from the heart because in the end I am going to be the one that is actually satisfied with what I have done.

General Commentwow what a good song so inspiring cudi is re-inventing the game and i dont even listen to that much rap but you gotta love when more hip-hop artist use more strings in their songs and stray away from those generic beats and rythms.

General CommentI think this song is about how he's so different. That they thought he was 'from above', because he wasn't doing what everyone else was doing. I don't know, but that is just what i think. I love Kid Cudi tho, so amazing.
