(Spoken)
They're defecting us.
They're extracting us.
The world owes me nothing,
it's given me a great deal.
Is this emptiness part of being human?
They're defecting us.
They're extracting us.

Away from all the children,
We can feel the walls that you've made
All the fears are mine,
Paper planes and time.

Fly, fly away from all the children,
we can feel the walls that you've made
All your fears are mine,
Paper planes and time. (x4)

Time is the only distance to the artist and the masterpiece.
Running around our business,
explaining what I should've picked
Sitting in a single chair with papers on the wall,
Twiddling your rubber thumbs in a sea of alphabetical.

Let your heart break,
in pain you'll find the truth.
Let your mind escape,
the burning of logic and proof.

(Spoken)
We must turn our boredom to gratitude

I love love love.
I want want want.
I need need need.
I am am am.

I love love love.
I want want want.
I need need need.
I am am am.
I love love love.

(Spoken)
They're defecting us.
They're extracting us.
The world owes me nothing,
it's given me a great deal.

Who wrote your words?
Who sews your strings?
Who built your boats?
Who placed your paths?(x4)
Who wrote your words?

(Spoken)
Why do I...?
Some people never even ask,
what are you thinking?
Who's in charge?
I don't understand French, but if I could,
I would write beautiful songs about horrible things.
Because it is said to be the language of love and romance,
and if love didn't exist, there wouldn't be any horrible things.
You must care to cry, love something in order to hate something.
You must have a heart in order for it to be broken.
Many people walk in a dream.
They feel entitled to happiness and feel anger when it is not waiting for them.
I know that the world owes me nothing, yet has given me a great deal.
It is our own perception we get to bend and mold to our liking,
once that is accomplished, the reality we once knew begins to change.
My neighbor may be dark and gloomy,
but I find it a perfect day to go outside.
I can knock on his door,
but that doesn't mean he will answer.
And I will have to walk away, sad, from his little house
where he sleeps and smokes and drinks all day,
just to escape what he does not yet know.
We find ourselves in little boxes watching little boxes.
We see an edited version of human life,
targeted on alienating us as individuals,
to distract us from the seedy underbelly of politics and business.
We are products of a Machiavellian society.
Look at the pretty girl dancing,
her hair is so shiny. I want my hair to be shiny.
Look at the man with chizzled features,
use the razor he is using.
It will give you the kind of charm that woman crave.
Women will want you.
Men will adore you.
You will be happy.
You will be empty, because it is not about the product,
but the feeling they try to convey.
And it is not for your benefit,
but for the benefit of the holders of the company.
We must burn our little boxes.
We must create dialogue.
We must realize the importance of every moment.
We must turn our boredom to gratitude.
Use your hands, your thoughts, your hunger.
These things are yours and yours alone.

"Let your heart break, in pain you'll find the truth. Let your mind escape, the burning of logic and proof."

Pain turns to apathy. Apathy puts you outside of emotional judgements. It is easy to find see the truth in everything when you are unobstructed by emotion. Everything about this song is self explanatory and amazing. It stands out to me even though there are no interesting vocals or instrumental parts. Most people probably skip right though this.

You are incredible for figuring these lyrics out. I must have listened to this song a million times and could not for the life of me make out half of the spoken word; however, what little i could make out seems to be the part you are missing; "Why do i WONDER? Some people never even ask..." Just thought i'd throw that out for ya. Also, i feel the person above me hit the nail on the head in regards to the meaning. Pretty self explainatory.

the vocals are actually the most interesting to me.

:) it's intense. and direct. telling you to WAKE THE FUCK UP. but any idea who sings it? i swear it sounds like the DuPree sisters (Eisley) singing in the background with the eerie vocals. and the ones saying the words sound like The Bird And The Bee. haha

    correct me if i'm wrong?

I agree with ShiftingStarlight's point of view, but the spoken part at the end seems to be making a different point.

It's not just saying to be objective towards life. She's saying that good and bad exist as two sides of the same coin, and as such, we shouldn't go through life wishing that bad things didn't happen, because without those bad things, we wouldn't have the good things. ("If love didn't exist, there wouldn't be any horrible things. You must care to cry, love something in order to hate something. You must have a heart in order for it to be broken... They feel entitled to happiness and feel anger when it is not waiting for them.")

She continues on to make xomgkillme's point, telling us to wake up. Consumerism is shady: those who sell us things base their products around our insecurities and our constant need to be better and to impress those around us. The solution is to think for yourself. ("You will be happy. You will be empty, because it is not about the product, but the feeling they try to convey. And it is not for your benefit, but for the benefit of the holders of the company... Use your hands, your thoughts, your hunger. These things are yours and yours alone.")

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
