"I'm Not Done" as written by and Karin Dreijer Andersson....
So, I lost my head a while ago
But you seem to have done no better
We set fire in the snow
It ain't over, I'm not done

Some do magic, some do harm
I'm holding on, holding on
I'm holding on to a straw

Who is the Alpha? What is made of cloth?
How do you say you're sorry?
And there's nothing to be afraid of

Is it dark already? How light is a light?
Do you laugh while screaming?
Is it cold outside?

One thing I know for certain
I'm pretty sure, it ain't over
I'm not done

General Commenti read somewhere in an interview that karin wrote this song last of the album's tracks.
she said it was about how when people get older, they just quit music and grow up/get regular lives/start families.
this is her way of saying, i'll never be done with music, because its her career and life, basically.

    General Commentok cool people: !'vegotit!

The famous "What is made of cloth?" (well folks? what is? - a puppet) hence -

    "Who is the Alpha
and what is made of cloth?"

might mean "who the f*** is the strong individual in this relationship and who the h*** is the weak one?"

she thinks she is, and saying "I'm not done" she's saying that "it ain't over until I(SHE) say(s) so...." and "kneel boy!" and such :)

General CommentThe song lyrics are wrong, here says:

"So I lost my head a while ago but you seem to have done better"

when it says "You seem have done NO better"

I think is important to fix that, it is an important phrase to the song.

Song MeaningI know the meaning of this song. The real one, not my interpretation. Many of you said it's about a relationship and love and break ups, well it's not. Like Fever Ray is ever going to write about love. The most probable reason of why you thought that is because there is one person talking about another person :"We set fire in the snow" "How do you say you're sorry?". But here's the thing. Fever Ray is taking with herself, the one who thinks its better to quit (her job, musician).

What was going on in the past was that After the last album with her brother came out she talked about retiring.

Now, she says in an interview: "Sometimes, when you're as old as I am now, you think you're going to quit, and people around you think you're going to quit. But then you have days when you realise how good music can be, there's so much left to explore and so much left to do. That's why I sometimes feel I'll never quit."--

This song is a gesture of defiance against Karin's own thoughts of retirement.

    General Commentfail

it says on the CD's artwork booklet & is clearly stated on the song

"so i lost my head a while ago
but you seem to have done no better"

    this needs to be corrected!!

My InterpretationThis is a rather empowering song. I agree that it is about some kind of a break-up from some controlling element... be it a lover, friend(s) or something more... something of an obviously deep spiritual nature in which, after sharing some good times together, something happened to cause a loss of belief, or faith, in the other.

Anyway... kidV is right about the correction, please do so. Thanks!
