They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the virgin birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winters light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell
And that Christmas Tree smell
And eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a Silent Night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked to the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in
The first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise
I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave New Year
All anguish pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas we get we deserve

    My Opinion

Soldem have I read so much misguided Americam claptrap. Please do some research and engage brain before you open mouth Teresa. European Paganism is akin to the modern “green” movement believeing in “living at one with the planet” and “being part of the planet and living through the planet”. Satan/Lucifer/Devil are inventions of the Judao-Christian church belief systems.

The spirit of “paganism” was mispresented by “Hollywood” and now halfwits like you think it is real. Satanism did not really exist until the 1960’s. Yes 1960’s, whereas Paganism is 10,000 years old at least.

"Christmas Eve, is A MAIN CELEBRATION DAY FOR BOTH WITCHES AND DIRECT SATANISTS” — If by Witches you mean - Pagans, then again this in incorrect. Christmas again is a Judao-Christian invention, the clue is in the name. The Pagan Winter Solstice is generally 21 or 22 December. It merely represents the end of the winter and the beginning of spring and the regrowth of the planet to full abundance.

Freedom of speech is a gift use it wisely.

This song isn't by U2. It is by Greg Lake (Of Emerson, Lake and Palmer aka ELP)co-written with Pete Sinfield, written 1975

Am I the only one who hears, "BUT I believed in the Israelite" in this version?

WHYever, in this "information"-and-Matthew 24:14-age, would Bono/U2 and billions of people STILL think that there's ANY valid "hallelujah" or "heaven" - or anything of "the Israelite" (Jesus) - [OR EVER WAS] in the so-called "CHRISTmas"????!!!

"Christmas" and "Christmas Eve" (and that winter solstice week) is a time of PAGAN/SPIRITISTIC celebration to "light" and "sun" gods and goddesses - and SATAN - that has been carried forth, globally, from ancient days. FALSE "Christianity" - in total DEFIANCE of biblical commands to NEVER incorporate ANY elements of idolatry or spiritual lies into worship of Jehovah [Yahweh] - infamously DID SO ANYWAY, however. It PAINTED-OVER the God-detested pagan/spiritistic celebrations with a white-wash of FALSE "sanctification" AND THE NAME OF GOD'S SON.

"Christmas Eve" is A MAIN CELEBRATION DAY FOR BOTH WITCHES AND DIRECT SATANISTS.

So, while pseudo-"Christians" (and even professed Buddhists, etc.) are busy doing the common "social thing" of exchanging presents and getting drunk December 22-25 (with perhaps a quick, half-yearly duck-in to a "church"); elsewhere pagans are holding "fire dances", etc. to an IDOLIZED SUN gOD, etc; and Satanists are holding orgies, including bestiality and rape (of even children) and making sacrifices of blood and body parts to their god.

    "Father Christmas" is a DEMON.

"New Year's Eve/Day" is also pagan: "Happy Hogmanay" and Yule-tides; and 'better get those "New Year's Resolutions" in line in time for JANus the god of gates, doors, and beginnings/endings.

Congratulations, Bono/U2 on realizing and speaking/singing out that many "Christmas dreams" as well as the common "Christmas Birth-of-Christ"/"Silent Night" story are LIES/"fairy [demon] stories" that have been SOLD to (and EAGERLY BOUGHT-UP by) the masses. (Christ was born IN THE FALL - NOT during the WINTER SOLSTICE week, as convenient to pagans and aquiescing-to-paganism FALSE "Christians.")

HOWEVER, the end-product of THIS SONG is that it is a spiritually "FENCE-straddling" song-profession. Such a kind of song certainly "SELLS" WELL, doesn't it.....

.....but then again, so do a lot of things that are HARMFUL to people.

    A very Merry Christmas?

    And a Happy New Year?

Let's HOPE YOU CAN SCRAP IT

    And MAKE THE WAY CLEAR.

Falsehoods over, if you want it.....

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
