The violence of your name
Still soothes me all the same with echoes of my past
Safe surroundings meant to last

Everybody got an explanation
For a world that has lost sensation
Nothing saves the feelings
We forgot to feel

Welcome to the family
Alone now you belong to me
Your life will be my property
I'll redefine your sanity

Dear Dead Days
Longed to find us, and define us
All those yesterdays,
That remind us, we're the same in every way

Safe and sound, beside you
Hide you from them, the real, deride you, let me tie you in
Everybody got a desperation, for the girl in this situation
Headline sightings, feelings we forgot to feel

Welcome to the family
Alone now you belong to me
Your life will be my property
I'll redefine your sanity

Dear Dead Days
Longed to find us, and define us
All those yesterdays,
That remind us, we're the same in every way

This life I have, I give to you
These thoughts I have, they're all for you
These things you say, I know they're true
There's no one else, no one but you

Look outside
Feels like real life
Night sky, eyes wide
Too wired to cry
You run, you hide
You taste suicide
Sunshine, profiled
Beguiled, defiled
Reviled

Dear Dead Days
Longed to find us, and define us
All those yesterdays
That remind us, we're the same in every way

General CommentWell, this one took a little while but I'll use my wildest interpretation first. To me it's about forcing second chances on your children. Most likely a father who made bad decisions in life so he's passing everything he can onto his son by force. Not by torturous force of course (even though to the strong borderline screaming pre-chorus implies it) but teaching him about love and mourning his own "dead days".

    OR slightly more likely

About losing a girlfriend and regretting the mistakes. But frost is smarter than that IMO
