There we stood out by the highway to the city
Just a few nights ago
And just as soon as we had almost walked away
The sky explodes, into white

With fairy tales blooming out of our heads
We ran into the clouds
Oh oh

Closing our eyes we felt the wind
And all that was around
Oh oh

I'm not looking for a way out
I'm not looking for a way out

Let's make them a way for words to fly
Let's make them a way for words to fly
Let's make them a way for words to fly
Soon everything will
Let's make them a way for words to fly
Everything will fly

We sang to hymns to Lake Michigan
Five brothers and I
Songs collide with air
And set the whole God-blessed night
On fire.

I just listened to it for the first time, (the live free daytrotter version-11/20/2008)and knocked my socks off. just gorgeous.
I thought it was about a romantic scene, til the line about the brothers. somehow i love that even better.
