"Tidal Wave" as written by Brandon Flowers, Dave Brent Keuning, Mark August Stoermer and Ronnie Jr. Vannucci....
He’s always trouble with his noncomplacent
Shotgun eyes, shotgun eyes
His subtlety, his mystery
Not like the other guys

She’s always taken by his reputation
He’s so bad, he’s so bad
On Saturday night, they’re running for the shadow

You say your heart ain’t ever been broken
You think you know where you’re going
Tidal wave
Tidal wave come rushing over me
You say this life has given you nothing
You got another thing coming
Tidal wave
Tidal wave come rushing over me

He’ll get a warning sign to keep his distance
From her old man, from her old man
Now the story of forbidden love
Has gotta make a stand

So in the middle of the early morning
They’ll slip away, slip away
And we know they’ll do their best
Somewhere in the golden west

Oh yeah, and we’ll watch them drive
They’re so alive

You say your heart ain’t ever been broken
You think you know where you’re going
Tidal wave
Tidal wave come rushing over me
You say this life has given you nothing
You got another thing coming
Tidal wave
Tidal wave come rushing over me
Tidal wave

These tidal waves are caught off track
Come tomorrow, cause I can’t go back
Come together, can’t you see
Tidal wave gonna cover me.
These tidal waves are caught off track
Come tomorrow, cause I can’t go back
Come together, can’t you see
Tidal wave gonna cover me.

Cover me
I can’t go back
Can’t you see

General CommentCheck this out acoustically if you never have before, it's pretty fantastic.

I think it's more about being young and naive and not being prepared for or expecting the change that inevitably comes in all of our lives throughout the course of growing up, finding and losing love being one of them.

My OpinionI love this song and the killers.

I think it means sometimes people take love for granted and because of that they loose it. So enjoy love while you have it. This song really means a lot to me.

General CommentI think this is talks about young love, and how people have no idea what they are in for when they break up or have their hearts broken for the first time. Tidal wave = emotions after break up.

General CommentI love this song. A testament to Brandon's story-telling. His vocals make this song.

I agree this story is about a young couple, a new prospect of love in general & what draws them in, teh attraction, the unavoidable chemistry.

To me tidal wave = emotions, but not necessarily after a break up. Maybe more those initial feelings one had when you feel there's chemistry with someone.
I think the singer wants the tidal wave to "rush over him" because he hasn't been so lucky with previous relationships. He longs to feel that rush of emotions and for them to be true. He can't go back without feeling that again.

General CommentMost beautiful song i've ever heard, it makes me want to cry. Story may have been told a million times before but never better in my eyes. I think its about naivety and the disillusionment, heartbreak that inevitabley follows. Themes remind me of arcade fire's wake up and tunnels.

General CommentYeah, I agree with the being young and naive thing. About first love and all, but the narrator knows all about it. I think its not necessarily about the narrator himself, but another couple. Idk, still a great, great song. I wish they'd played it live when they came to South Africa.
