She was standing there by the broken tree
Her hands were all twisted she was pointing at me
I was damned by the light coming out of her eyes
She spoke with a voice that disrupted the sky
She said 'Come on over to the bitter shade,
I will wrap you in my arms and you'll know you've been saved'
Let me sign, let me sign

General Commentwas on marcus foster's (who actually wrote this song with rob) myspace and he posted the lyrics as:

she was standing there by the broken tree,
    her hands were all twisted,
    she was pointing at me.
i was damned by the light coming out of her eyes,
she spoke with a voice that disrupted the sky.
she said "come on over to the bitter shade,
i will wrap you in my arms and you'll know you've been saved".
let me sign, let me sign

there's actually alot more to this song and rob only recorded the first verse but it's actually about a prostitute and the words 'let me sign' refer to signing your soul over to the devil.

it's all there if you want to look for yourself…

General CommentThis song was NOT written for Twilight.
I know it may be hard for some of you to believe that he had a career before Twilight.
    He's done better movies.

General CommentSee, this is how I hear the lyrics:

    Standing by a broken tree
    Her hands are all twisted
    She's pointing at me
I was damned by the light comin'
    Over all I see
She spoke with a voice that disrupted the sky
She said walk on over here to a bit of shade
I will wrap you in my arms
    and always stay
Let me sign, let me sign

These lyrics are a little bit easy to understand, to interpret. What do you think?

My InterpretationHere is my interpretation of some of Let Me Sign from the point that Rob is acting as Edward in Twilight:

"Has her arms twisted Is pointing at me" means that she's trying to decide which way to go, but all the while her destiny is set in her mind... She will go to him and fall in love with a man that could potentially kill her.

"She spoke with a voice that strucked at the sky She said come on over, yeah Bittersweet" means that she talks to him and her voice sounds loud and clear and beautiful to him, as well does the smell of her blood. She says "come on over" and it will be bittersweet to him because he could kill her for her succulant blood or he could hold back and love her for all time.

=) I am a HUGE Twilight fan, so having Rob Pattinson sing songs for the soundtrack was awesome!

General CommentI think this song is so beautiful and first perfectly with Edward's point of view.

I think it's about how Edward thinks he's damned, and Bella still comes to him and wants him.

"She said 'let me sign'" I think is when Bella tells him she wants to be a vampire he thinks of it as her wanting to sign her soul away.

It's "bittersweet" for both of them because Edward finally has someone to complete him but (in his eyes) it means taking away her soul. And for Bella she's found someone to complete her but it means giving up her family and friends.

Despite the "bitter" parts neither of them can stay away, like when "her hands are all twisted"but she's still "pointing at me", the path is twisted, but it's clear how she wants it to end, and how it will end, despite any resistance.

The song is so amazing and that part of the movie makes me cry. I love Rob's voice and I wish he'd write more ^_^

General CommentI dont think this song was intended for twilight but for new moon instead. Yes she wanted to become a vampire but if you think about New Moon after she's been broken by Edward and Jacob. She's made her choice and that choice is Edward. She loves him and wants to marry him! They go to his house and vote and all if she should become a vampire even though its inevitable anyways with the volturi. He still fears for her soul even though she tells him that her soul is his to have from the very beginning.

General CommentStanding by a broken tree,
    Her hands are all twisted,
    She's pointing at me,
I was damned by light comin,
All a while she spoke with at voice that struck up at the sky,
She said, "Walk on over here to a bit of shade,
I'll wrap you in my arms if only you say
    you'll let me,
    Let me sign"

Let me sign is referring to him letting her sign onto him and his world.

I love this song it was so perfect for the movie and their love story.

General CommentThis song sounds so sad to me, but the lyrics aren't sad at all.
Makes me cry every time. Don't know why.

    General Commentno scratch that!!!!
i listened again, and took from what other people said:
    im almost certain it is:::

    surrounded by broken dreams,
    it has her all twisted,
    shes pointing at me
i was damned by the light comin,
    all the while she,
spoke with a voice that destructed the sky,
    she said walk on over,
    to the bitter shade
i will wrap you in my arms,
    and she said
    "let me sign,"
    "let me sign."

yep yep yep, this is DEFINETLY IT.
