"I'll Never Forget You" as written by Ruth Lowe and Glenn Osser....
I'll never smile again
Until I smile at you
I'll never laugh again
What good would it do?
For tears would fill my eyes
My heart would realize
That our romance is through

I'll never love again
I'm so in love with you
I'll never thrill again
To somebody new
Within my heart
I know I will never start
To smile again
Until I smile at you

My InterpretationI can think of two possibilities for this, my first thought was of a war vet deciding to take his own life over some of the terrible things he's done. 'to 86' is a verb to discard something. He's going to 86 himself. Charlie from the Vietnam war, although Charlie was the enemy in that case.

Alternatively, it's the year Charlie was born, and he's begging forgiveness from someone.
