"Welcome to Heartbreak" as written by Kanye Omari West, Patrick Reynolds, Jeff Bhasker, Scott (kid Cudi) Mescudi and B (mr. Hudson) Mcildowie....
My friend showed me pictures of his kids
And all I could show him was pictures of my cribs
He said his daughter got a brand new report card (card)
And all I got was a brand new sports car
Uh

And my head keeps spinning
Can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit' it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho
And my head keeps spinning
I can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit' it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho

Dad cracked a joke all the kids laugh
But I couldn't hear em all the way in first class
Chased the good life my whole life long
Look back on my life and my life gone
Where did I go wrong?

And my head keeps spinning
Can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit' it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho
And my head keeps spinning
I can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit' it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho

I seen it, I seen it before
I seen it, I seen it before
I've seen it, I've seen it before
I seen it, I seen it before

My god sister gettin' married by the lake
But I couldn't figure out who I want to take
Bad enough that I showed up late
I had to leave 'fore they even cut the cake
Welcome to Heartbreak

And my head keeps spinning
Can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit' it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho
And my head keeps spinning
I can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit' it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho

Oh ho
Oh ho
Oh ho

And I can't, and I can't stop
No, no I can't stop
No, no, no, no I can't stop
No, no, no, no I can't stop
Can't stop, I can't stop, I can't stop
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, no
No, no I can't stop

Can't stop having these visions
I gotta get wit it
Oh ho, oh ho, oh ho
Oh ho
Oh oh ho

General CommentThis song, to me, is about his regret at the choices he made in regards to being so career focused.
He has missed opportunites in regards to love/family etc and now as he gets more mature he sees
that everything he strived for, isn't 'everything'.

A counter point to Love Lockdown.

My OpinionThis song really goes to the heart of life... These things, cars, cribs are just things and when all is said and done you really don't look back on things but on relationships you've built and what they have meant to you... Kanye explains it beautifully in this song... Tough spot to be in after lossing his mama and future wife.

    Lovely album;)

General CommentI think it's about the sacrifices in one's personal life and happiness that are made in order to chase fame, wealth, and major success. Kanye is looking back on his life, and while he achieved great success and accomplished many of his goals, he still regrets the price he had to pay and questions if it was really all worth it. It is presented as a warning to young rappers (personified by Cudi) or anyone else chasing greatness. Kid Cudi still possesses the fire and drive to be successful, which reminds Kanye of himself ("I've seen it before") and Kanye is warning Cudi that the lifestyle is not that great. Ultimately, though, Kanye never takes his own advice and can't stop pursuing success. In the last verse of the song, Kanye sings Cudi's chorus, showing that just like Cudi or a younger Kanye, he is still consumed with chasing greatness.

General CommentBest song on the new album.
    Anyone agree?
Also, way to much auto tuning on this album overall.

General Comment “Welcome to Heartbreak,” features one of West’s simplest, yet most effective allusions to his feelings of despair. (Actual Lyrics: “Dad cracked a joke, all the kids laughed, but I couldn’t hear him all the way in first-class. Chased the good-life, my whole life long, look back on my life, all my life gone, where did I go wrong?”) In this deep track, West realizes that although he seems to have it all, he is missing out on the simple and more fulfilling joys of life.

General Commentthe grass is always greener on the other side..........when you're riding out the lows of life.

sure, he's not wealthy in the ways that matter in the grand scheme of things. but he's in a position to help others and that's his destiny. he knows that and he's choosing to follow it.

My InterpretationThis song speaks to me, I do think its a direct reflection of his life, being career driven he has missed out on some of the things he now sees as the good life.

I think he wrote this song to help others realize that being rich, owning the best things in life isn't necessarily the good life, that success sometimes is the things that you can'y actually touch.
