(We're searching for the good?)
The end of the chapter or the start of ever after
But don't you know a picture is worth a thousand words
Tease them with their young
That twisted game of hide-and-seek

5-4-3-2-1
Come out come out come out
Sign your name on the dotted line
There's no place like tonight
Alphabetic lies in numerical time
Come out come out come out
And everything will be fine

It's now or never
Make it now

And what if this is all there is
You have to reevaluate
And if at first you don't succeed
Get on that horse and ride again

Now!
Please will you take my hand
I thought of everything
Hear what we have to say
Please take your living life
We're leaving the past behind
Are you along for the ride?
Please will you take my hand
I thought of everything

It's now or never
Make it right
Make it now

When does this book get good?
The end of the chapter or the start of "ever-after"
don't you know a picture is worth a thousand words
Teach them with gods twisted game of hide and seek

    5-4-3-2-1
Come out come out come out
Sign your name on the dotted line
There's no place left to hide
    Alphabetic lies in numerical time
Come out come out come out
    And everything will be fine

    It's now or never
    Make it now
    It's now or never

And what if this is all there is
    we'll have to reevaluate
And if at first you don't succeed
Get on that horse and ride again

    Stop!
Please will you take my hand
    I thought of everything
Hear what we have to save?
    Clean slates for living lies
    We're leaving the past behind
Are you along for the ride?
Please will you take my hand
    I thought of everything

    It's now or never
    Make it right
    Make it now

General CommentJust gonna go for the "god's twisted game" bit.
They thank god in the booklet for OHPS, and with the atheistic themes in TAOM, I think they're just slighting at how god is sometimes there for you, and sometimes not, depending on what you believe during those sometimes. You can't ever truly be sure of his existence, but you can never know that he doesn't exist either. I think the "What you see and what you believe are never gonna be the same" line from somewhere in TAOM, i forget where, could find some help in understanding here.

General CommentNot sure I was clear about the first part.
I don't know their religious background, but it seems from album to album their opinion shifts. That was the idea I meant to imply at the beginning.
    My apologies.

General Commentyou guys have this kind of wrong I think lol.

This is the way I think it goes.

The way we are going about things, Politics, religion, a monetary system (money), is not getting us anywhere. When does this book get good? We are not happy as a species and we are so blind to what is comfortable that we don't even understand that money, "God", or oppression is needed or even human nature.

the whole 5-4-3-2-1 part is about our control over ourselves. Numbers and letters signifying your being, social security numbers, signatures, etc. Time is also man made. It is mans counting of the earth revolving around our sun. Even though these are placed on you from birth, and EVERYONE conforms, it is not required to live, survive, or even do great things.

the rest of it is a lot of things, but mostly it sounds like they are calling for the change they know is inevitable. It is going to happen, nothing last forever, especially forms of government or control. we need to be smart. Money, religion, politics, has never done anything for us truly. Technology and man power has. We need to go forward and get away from being judgmental and oppressive. There are no social classes, no high, low, or middle class. We are all equal and if given the proper education, motivation, and positive reinforcement, we will ALL do great. This isn't communism, communism is a form of government. This is proper natural resource management and complete equality and love from and for all man.

General CommentI really liked Braddeurbeck's interpretation, the way I also interpreted the song was more like a song directed at somebody that has a problem of some sort or other that needs to reevaluate his/her life, etc. Now or never, take the hand of the person trying to help you, and so on.

My InterpretationAs far as meaning goes, This song is definitely out there.

I suppose it's reviewing one's life as a story; "When does it get good, at the end of life or at the start of 'ever-after' - Love? "god's twisted game of hide and seek" really confuses me however. teaching that "A picture is worth a thousand words" is nothing more than hide and seek, that we have to find the words?

    "5-4-3-2-1.
Alphabetical lies in numerical time". That's a clear reference to music, but with all the talk about "coming out", I'm taking that as in just confessing anything and everything, so maybe it's music rather than books that get to true feelings, but then why would they lie, or is it as of laying down?

    "It's now or never
Make it now" ...Take things at face, or intuitive value? (Ironic that I'm not)

"And what if this is all there is
we'll have to reevaluate" ...Pretty much am reevaluating this song.

    "Stop!"

"Please will you take my hand
    I thought of everything
Hear what we have to save?" Asking us to help them with what?

    "Clean slates for living lies
We're leaving the past behind" Leaving the assumption that a picture being worth a thousand words was given to us as a child and we never really understood that; we just nodded our heads and listened, but we're no longer doing that - We're thinking for ourselves. We tried to find the meaning of these preschool phrases and sayings, but it's been hiding from us forever. Leave it behind?
