I’m lyin’ here on the floor just like the man on the yellow cone
I guess the floor was wet
So I’m cold and I’m all alone
‘Cause I was
Runnin’ down the stairs, I didn’t think that I could fall
But gravity took over me and I crumpled like a ball.
But if you would pick me up, I’d be obliged.

Dust me off and push my hair aside.

Well it’s later than I thought, and I thought it was pretty late.
I guess everyone’s asleep, wonder why I’m still awake.
I could fall asleep right here, with my hands under my head.
There’s a body in the stairwell, call the cops I think she’s dead.
But if you would pick me up, I’d be obliged.

Dust me off and push my hair aside.

Well I can’t lie, perhaps I didn’t trip.
I’ve been having troubles lately, and I got somethin’ to admit.
See I was standin’ at the top, thinking ‘bout the Earth
It’s been so hard to just keep livin’, so I thought it might be worth it if...

You would pick me up, I’d be obliged.
Dust me off and push my hair aside.

Kiss me goodbye.

General CommentI think this song is sad.... If you just listen to her voice when she sings it you can feel the pain behind it. To me this song is about how her life would be easier if she just ended it due to all the pain. "Well I can’t lie, perhaps I didn’t trip."

Only Julia could say for sure though

General Commentthis is one of my favorite songs on her new CD.

the beginning lyrics are so cute! And I can't decide if this song is cute or sad...

General CommentI think if that last line wasn't in there, I might wonder if it was supposed to be "cute".
But I think it's sad, based on the vibes I get and what she's talking about.
    "Kiss me goodbye."

The first time I heard the song, and heard the lyrics in the last verse, I got a little emotional, because the song sounded so sad. One of my favorites on I Wrote These based on the first listen.

General CommentI think that the song sounds cute at first but gets darker as it progresses and the same tone of her voice serves it's meaning to suit either ambiguously. It seems like the display and lyrics was given to betray an uncertainty of intentions in the song. She seems conflicted between whether it would be worth it to just let go when things are getting too hard and she falls low. The Chorus seems optimistic and seeking help, but the verses slowly become more somber and betray the situation (A metaphor I assume) as less of an accidental and her being swiped down by reality, and more as her sabotaging herself in a conscious effort to ease the strain. The final line seems to hint at her losing the battle and surrendering to the truth of her despair instead of disguising it as earlier.
