You tried to spit at the sun
Burn it out, like a burning ember
(The ember burns inside)
As you call under the moon
Make it heard
Let this be straight forever
(The ember burns inside)
'Cause the life you live is less than alive

As they scream
"Let them burn"

You know you'll burn at the hands of your king
As they scream
"Let them burn"
You know you won't
You won't forgive them

She crawls through the dirt like a four-legged spider
He's there, laying beside her
As the serpent's tongue is wrapped around her neck
Let them burn
Let them burn

And he knows that she died inside
And he knows

Open all the voiceless souls
Into the ears of a traitor
I still see a believer
The witness is here

It seems that which hang men over
But I can show them the portal to saviour
As empty words to forgive
The witness is here

Open all the voiceless souls
She falls to her knees, and she begs for forgiveness
As the Heavens open their gates
But one glance and a fire blazed
But it brought back your soul and a portal to saviour

General CommentThis song is about the prohpet Hosea. God told him to marry a prostitute to show how much God loves Israel. Hosea marries a prostitute named Gomer. she eventually leaves Hosea to go back to prostitution and Hosea brings her back. Pretty awesome love story huh? love covers a multitude of sins.

General CommentWow nobody has commented yet? This was a powerful song to me... But anyways, I think it is about a guy that loves a witch or satanist. She has been caught and is going to be burned at the stake. (obviously this is a long time ago)

"You know you'll burn at the hands of your king
    As they scream
    "Let them burn"
    You know you won't
    You won't forgive them

She crawls through the dirt like a four-legged spider
    He's there, laying beside her
As the serpent's tongue is wrapped around her neck
    Let them burn
    Let them burn"

He loves her too much to let her go to hell, and he still sees hope for her.

    "Open all the voiceless souls
Into the ears of a traitor
    I still see a believer
    The witness is here"

He seems to know that he is her last chance at being saved and accepting Jesus.

"It seems that which hang men over
But I can show them the portal to saviour
    As empty words to forgive
    The witness is here"

Finally, just before the flames engulf her, she looks to heaven and cries out to God.

    "Open all the voiceless souls
She falls to her knees, and she begs for forgiveness
As the Heavens open their gates
The wood burns and a fire blazed
But he bought back your soul with the blood of the saviour"
(I have the lyrics with the cd insert)

A beautiful picture of the saving grace of Christ, illustrating that no matter what anyone has done, they can be redeemed.

General CommentThat could be, I can see where you're coming from for sure. But that theory doesn't really make sense when you consider the end of the song, where the girl is burned at the stake after accepting Christ. The lyrics are pretty straightforward there.

General CommentThese lyrics are wrong. I actually got a chance to meet stephen from haste the day and my friend and I asked him about these lyrics. It says "As you crawl under the moon, Make it hurt." and also it isn't "at the hands of your king" its "at the hands of your KIN," (as in your family). And it isn't "open all the voiceless souls, into the ears of a traitor i still see a believer" its "Open hands hold porcelain souls, into the eyes of a traitor I still see a believer." Im not even correcting anymore of it because its so wrong.

General CommentThis is probably my favorite Haste The Day song. I think that this song is about a girls who made terribe mistakes in her life but through the grace and mercy of god she is forgiven and let into the heaven.

"you try to spit at the sun,
put it out like a burning ember."

I think this means she is anti-jesus

    "she has a porcelain soul."

    She is actually really frigile.

"'Cause the life you live is less than alive."

the way she is living isn't the way she should live.

"As they scream 'let them burn,'
you know you'll burn at the hands of your kin"

It means that they(family included) want to just condem her.

"She crawls through the dirt like a four legged spider.
He's there layind beside her when the serpents tounge is wrapped around her neck."

I think this is where she finally starts to realize that her life is "less than alive." Basically she is like going through hell in her life, But god is right there with her through all of it, even when "the serpents tounge is wrapped around her neck" (satan has a hold of her).

    "Open hands hold porcelain souls."

Open hands are the hands of god to his children.

"into the eyes of a traitor,
    I still see a believer.
    The witness is here."

Although she's done some messed up stuff, god can still see she is a believer, and he is the witness of it.

    "She's a witch and I love here."

I think this is god saying although she has done bad things I still love here nevertheless.

"Buy back the soul with the blood of the savior."

This refers to the attonement, jesus buying back ours souls with his blood.

"Is it too much to forgive?"

A good question if you ask me.

    "The witness is here."

the witness once again is god.

"She falls to her knees and she begs for forgiveness."

She is begging for forgiveness for all of her sins.

"As the hevens open their gates,
the wood burns and the fires blaze,
but he boughtt back her soul with the blood of the savior"

God forgives her and her soul is bought back with the blood of the savior. She goes to heaven.

    General CommentCorrect lyrics:

You tried to spit at the sun--
blot it out like a burning ember.
    (She has a porcelain soul)

    As you crawl under the moon, make it hurt;
make this bed and sleep forever,
    (she has a porcelain soul)

because the life you live is less than alive.
as they scream, "let them burn!"
you know you'll burn at the hands of your kin
(as they scream, "let them burn!")

You know you won't, won't forgive them.

She crawls through the dirt like a four-legged spider.
    He's there, laying beside her
when the serpents tongue is wrapped around her neck.

    "Let them burn!
    Let them burn!"

And he knows that she died inside (and he knows).

    Open hands hold porcelain souls.
Into the eyes of a traitor, I still see a believer.
    The witness is here.

    She's a witch and I love her.
Buy back her soul with the blood of a savior.
Is it too much to forgive?
    The witness is here.

    Open hands hold porcelain souls.

She falls to her knees and she begs for forgiveness.
As the heavens open their gates, the wood burns and the fire blazes
but he bought back her soul with the blood of a savior.

My OpinionI honestly think it is about the
Salem witch trials. Many women were accused of witchcraft tried to deny it (futile), Like trying to spit at the Sun.

They were being burned and hung not by strangers, but the townsfolk. The people they see everyday. The 'witches' know these people. " You know you burned, at the hands of your kin"

They tried so hard to get away, "She crawled through the dirt like a four legged spider"

A few acknowledge the fact that they are killing a person, not just a 'witch'

Finally, the women realized that if they confessed, they wouldn't be hung. "She falls to her knees, as she begs for forgiveness"

The young girls were so fragile at that point, as if their very souls were made of porcelain.

Then the church freaks killed them.
    Thousands of them.
    Women and children.
    Magic isn't real.
    They killed them for nothing...
