Come on then let's re-invent the wheel
My patent's pending please
accept my deal
Something clicked inside that's
how you made me feel
Pretty please let's re-invent the wheel

Put your best foot forward
You break a leg
What came first the chicken
or the egg?
Don't think too hard
about what to say
'Cos I want our love to be a cliché
I want our love to be a cliché

Jonny said let's swim
towards the light
Because I'm wrong well
does that make Jim right?
We've got to loop the loop
we've dug ourselves a hole
And walking round in circles
takes its toll
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Put your best foot forward...

But do you really want to know
If this boy's a fake?
Sleeping with you
is the the only time I'm awake

Put your best foot forward...

I've got some plans they took
all night to make
So if it's not round then

hey that's my mistake
Something clicked inside
That's how you made me feel
Pretty please lets re-invent the wheel...

But do you really want to know
If this boy's a fake?
Sleeping with you
is the the only time I'm awake
Let's re-invent the wheel
Come on I know we'll
Re-invent the wheel (Repeat lots)
What's your name? It's just a game
Re-invent the wheel

General CommentI see this as a parody of all those pop song lyrics consisting of one cliché after another.

And perhaps also, with the "I want our love to be a cliché" line, a joky look at the desire (spelled out in lots of popular songs) for the 'ideal' but totally unoriginal, stereotypical relationship.
