"Embrace of the Endless Ocean" as written by Ted Oscar Lundstroem, Olavi Mikkonen, Johan Soederberg, Fredrik Andersson and Johan Hegg....
I stroke the blade with my hand,
The sharp edge cuts the skin.
Blood drips to the rain-wet sand;
My journey can begin.

Once a slave, but now I'm free
My honor is restored!
Once again, I ride the seas
Free at last, from whip and oar

I slide the sword into the sheath
The ocean god is hailed
And as we push out to the sea
We raise the red-striped sails

I've missed the breeze of my home shore
The frozen lakes and winter snow...
But now my dream starts to unfold.
Father, I'm coming home!

The storm came down without remorse
And water crushed the rails
The ship was thrown back and forth
And strong wind ripped the sails

The icy waves embrace my skin,
I am going numb
The endless ocean swallows me
This will be, my cold wet tomb!

Won't feel the breeze of my home shore
Nor see the lakes or winter snow...
My hopeful dreams lie ripped and torn
Father, I die alone, I die alone!

    General CommentAmazing song.

Seems obvious from the lyrics that the man in the song recently gained freedom from being a galley slave (hence free at last from whip and oar). On his journey home, a storm hits and sinks his vessel and he drowns in the ocean.

    Heartbreaking.

General Commentthis song is about a man, at last been set free after being a slave for some time. and on his way home, he recalled the memories of his hometown and family. but, unfortunately, the storm crashed the ship he'd board and sank in the sea. he never got the chance to come home. he died. such a sad story. love the end of the songs. :)

    My InterpretationSad song.

The lyrics talk for themselves: He was probably a guy that got caught (probably after committing a crime, w/e crime there could have been during the viking era) by other forces who enslaved him. He was a slave for many years and then got released. He went overseas on a boat to see his family back but during the journey, a storm strikes and he dies in icy waters.

General CommentI always figured this was Thor's fate. Just floating on the waves of the great flood that ended Ragnarok thinking of his life and reflecting it. Since the album is about him.

General CommentWow, first comment, amazing song, not positive on a meaning but it seems to be about someone on a sinking ship. Great guitar solos at the end, some of the best I've heard from this band.
