"Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis" as written by and Corey/gregoletto Beaulieu....
Within struggle, amidst horror
Inside conflict, visceral war
Make a stand here, vanquish all fear
Don't hesitate, eradicate

[Chorus]
Torn between Scylla and Charybdis
Feel the fear ripening, go taste it
Torn between Scylla and Charybdis
Feast fruits of valor, if you face it

Walls of carnage surround your weakness
Crash down like oceans, wait for the light
In total darkness, drowning in bleakness
Awaiting death's grip, cry out for life

Divided by destiny
Torn between death and doom
Destruction by decision
Fate shows me my open tomb

Apprehension runs down your chin
Masticate it, suck those tears in
Life's a battle, perpetual crusade
One against all, time to wield the blade

[Chorus]

In total darkness, drowning in bleakness
Awaiting death's grip, cry out for life

Divided by destiny
Torn between death and doom
Destruction by decision
Fate shows me my open tomb

A fight that tests the substance
Of all that you call your life
Destruction by decision
Fate shows me my open tomb

[Repeat: x2]
Face down that which makes you bleed
Turn it 'round and force your seed
Down

Torn between Scylla and Charybdis
Feast fruits of valor, if you face it

Walls of carnage surround your weakness
Crash down like oceans, wait for the light
In total darkness, drowning in bleakness
Awaiting death's grip, cry out for life

Divided by destiny
Torn between death and doom
Destruction by decision
Fate shows me my open tomb

A fight that tests the substance
Of all that you call your life
Destruction by decision
Fate shows me my open tomb

General CommentThe song isn't about the elections, lest you actually read the lyrics for the bridge section.

The song is about being trapped between the proverbial "rock and a hard place," and rather than settling for either of those two options, you forge ahead, carve your own path, overcome the adversity, and become better for doing so.

General CommentAccording to Greek Mythology, Scylla and Charybdis are two sea monsters who are separated by a short expanse of water making it impossible for passing Sailors to navigate between them without encountering at least one of the.

Scylla was said to have many heads, and would attacks the ships as they passed.

Charybdis would merely open it's gaping mouth which would create an immense whirlpool to later reveal it's massive teeth, and it would eat the ships whole.

The term Torn between Scylla and Charybdis merely suggests that someone is torn between a decisions in which both of the possibilities are unfavorable.

It is my belief that the song may in fact be talking about the 2008 election.

This is my favorite song on the album no contest. I would really like to see a video released for this.

General CommentI don't necessarily think the election was what they had in mind when they wrote the song, but I think it sure as hell fits the situation.

Song MeaningThis definitly based of a part in the odyssey by Homer. basicaly its telling that the main charchter in the story, Odysseus, is stuck between a whirlpool making monster, Charybdis, and a 12 headed snake beast, Scylla, and he hast to overcome one of them to go on. If You like the story this song tells then i would recommend the book the Odyssey. Good Book, even for a metal fan.

General CommentWithout a doubt, this song is about Corey. He noticed that hes fat and needs to go on a serious diet.
But somehow, he feels confused cause he can't keep a consistent diet.
He holds a twinkie and asks himself. "Twinkie? or Diet?".
He's totally torn between Scylla and Charybdis. Poor guy
