On the midnight road
Thin air painfully cold
Landscape dark as murder
save for the stars on all sides
and they're reflecting in our eyes
Nowhere to hide
Wide open sky staring down at me

I saw life, I saw death
I saw it all that night
in the Arizona sky
I saw life, I saw death
I saw it all that night
in the Arizona sky

Eighteen wheels barrelling past
blowing the grass this way and that
Once everything settles down again
I wonder when they ever stop
to look around and see that
we're all at the top of the world

I saw life, I saw death
I saw it all that night
in the Arizona sky
I saw life, I saw death
I saw it all that night
in the Arizona sky (the sky)

And as I stood there, I just knew it
Everything was right
I was exactly as I should be
in the dark that night
The stars were shining to remind me
this is right where I belong

Lead me to where, where I need to be
Lead me as far as the eye can see
Lead me to where, where I need to be
Lead me as far...

I saw life, I saw death
I saw it all that night
in the Arizona sky
I saw life, I saw death
I saw it all that night
in the Arizona sky (the sky)

I saw love, I saw hate
I saw everything that night
in the Arizone sky
I saw you, I saw them
I saw myself that night
in the Arizona sky (the sky)

General CommentIt almost sounds like she was involved in a car crash in Arizona. I really like the song, but it was even better live (the Original Jewish Mother, Virginia Beach). The band really pumped up the energy and there was a certain punk-girl rawness to her voice that really made the song move. There are some bands that can't match their recordings on stage, but this is one of those band's that should have tried to keep more of the live act in the booth.
