"17" as written by and Jared/followill Followill....
Oh she's only seventeen
Whine whine whine, weep over everything
Bloody Mary breakfast busting up the street
Brothers fighting, when's the baby gonna sleep
Heaving ship too sails away

Said it's a culmination of a story and a goodbye session
It's a tick of our time and the tic in her head that made me feel so strange
So I could call you baby, I could call you, dammit, it's a one in a million
Oh it's the rolling of your Spanish tongue that made me wanna stay

Oh she's only seventeen
Whine whine whine, weep over everything
Bloody Mary breakfast busting up the street
Brothers fighting, when's the baby gonna sleep
Heaving ship too sails away

Said it's a culmination of a story and a goodbye session
It's a tick of our time and the tic in her head that made me feel so strange
Said I could call you baby, I could call you, dammit, it's a one in a million
Oh it's the rolling of her Spanish tongue that made me wanna stay

I could call you baby, I could call you, dammit, it's a one in a million
Oh it's the rolling of your Spanish tongue that made me wanna stay

General CommentWell it's always hard to interpret their lyrics now because they are great at making up really emotional stuff that never actually happened to them. They (or Caleb mainly) are storytellers.
So the lyrics could mean nothing personal to Caleb or they could mean everything.

When i first heard it I thought of how much time they've spent in spain touring, and how he could have met a girl there, and how i'm sure age doesn't matter to people in spain as much as in the united states. She seems to act older than her age, and sure has a lot in common with caleb if she likes wine, to whine, to drink all the time, and is very wound up and mixed up. Obviously he had to leave her eventually.

I don't really get the brothers frightened line. Possibly he got her pregnant and her brothers were scared for how the baby would be taken care of. But i doubt that.

    General Commenti think it's..

    "even ships that sails away
said it's a culmination of a story and a goodbye session, it's a take of our time and a tick in her hair.."

"always the lowly mother spanish tongue"

Good job though, I know I could well be wrong. Guess we'll know on the release if they put the lyrics in the book!! I hope so.

General CommentThe bells don't do it for me.

I am sure this song will slowly grow on me. The song itself is awesome, but the bells sound too much like a cheesy christmas hymn.

    General CommentOh she’s only seventeen
Wind and wind and wound up over everything
    Bloody Mary [something]
Brothers cried and when’s a baby gonna sleep? --[this line’s a pretty big guess haha]
Even ships who sails away ---[I don’t think it’s the word ‘even’ but I don’t know what it is so I just left it]

Say it’s a culmination of a story and a goodbye session
It’s a tick of our time and a tick in her hair
That made me feel so strange

    I could call you baby
I could call you damn it
    It’s a one in a million
It’s the rolling of a Spanish tongue
    That made me wanna stay

I'm not sure or anything, and I'm pretty sure some of them are wrong, just trying to add on to what you already have.
