And I know you won't admit this
I am just a silhouette to you
You found comfort with my distance
But you never let me stray out of your view

Who really needs the past
With the allure of something new
So we split apart at last
Went back to the places that I knew
Before you

And you never have to see
The light that wraps itself around me
And I never have to know
The faces and
The places you go

When I can't bear the resistance
I bend in shapes and ways that I never knew
So I'll try to postpone my existence
Yeah I'll stop or start my heart if you ask me to
I'll stop my heart and then I'll wait for you

I was sure I never would be sure we were in love
I am sure I never would be sure of love to come
(Although it's dark and black)
(There is one thing left to hold on to)
After you

And you'll never have to see
The light that wraps itself around me
And I never have to know
The faces and
The places you go

(So hold on tightly to your vice and
Pull the wool over your eyes
No matter what, you'll always see
The outline that is left from me)

    My Interpretation

This song is written so beautifully with so much sweet sentiment.....I think it's about the End of a Relationship between 2 people and the insecurity, confusion and jealousy that comes with it.

"I know you won't admit this I am just a silhouette to you You found comfort with my distance But you never let me stray out of your view"

That stage after the end of a relationship where you question if your other half felt the things for you that you thought he did....I think They're not over each other which would make the breakup more painful....By Silhouette/shadow....The girl feels that she is one in regards to the guy...Means less to him then before.....She's frustrated that he's able to deal with the breakup better, but yet won't give her the clean break that she needs.

"Who really needs the past With the allure of something new So we split apart at last Went back to the places that I knew Before you"

She wants to move on from him, or she's trying to convince herself to...ya know, 'grass is always greener' thinking....trying to look forward to what's next, and not what was.....

"And you'll never have to see The light that wraps itself around me And I'll never have to know The faces there The places you go"

By being as far from each other as possible...They won't have to watch/endure the moving on to the next love/happiness that isn't each other....They won't have to see that special light/softness in each others eyes, and know that it's not for them...they're trying to convince themselves it's as easy as 'out of sight...out of mind'

"When I can't bear the resistance I bend in shapes and in ways that i never knew So I'll try to postpone my existence yeah I'll stop or start my heart.... if you ask me to I'll stop my heart.....and then I'll wait for you"

The guy isn't really coping with the breakup like the girl thinks he is.....It's seems if she gives him a sign that he doesn't have to let her go or move on from her...well he's not gonna...He'll stop his heart and wait for her....He'll fight for them.

"I was sure....I never would be sure....we were in love (Although it's dark and black) I am sure...I never will be sure...of love to come (There is one thing left to hold on to) After you"

only realizing now, what they had meant so much......although it's painful now for both of them...and they're not sure if they ever will get over each other....They have to try to be optimistic that 'time and distance heals'

"So hold on tightly to your vice and pull the wool over your eyes No matter what, you'll always see.. the outline that is left from me (2x)"

No matter what they try to convince themselves of......they've left an imprint/silhouette on each other that will be impossible to get rid of.

It's a very bittersweet song about the downside of Love....Really beautiful <33

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
