"Things My Father Said" as written by Bob Marlette, Richard Young, Chris Robertson, John Young, Ben Wells and Jon Lawhorn....
The things my father said
Would make me a better man,
Hard work and the love of friends
A woman that understands.

I hope my father knows the seeds we've sewn still grow,
At night I go to sleep and pray he's watching over me

[Chorus]
Somewhere there's a star that's shining,
So bright that I can see you smile,
And all that I need is one last chance,
Just to hear you say, goodbye

Sometimes I remember when
You taught me to tie my shoes,
One thing I will never forget
Is the day that I lost you.

I hope you always know the car that we built will always roll

[Chorus]

And if you have a dream
You'd better hang on for dear life,
And when that cold wind blows
Just let it pass you by.

Yeah, things my father said
Yea! Yeah, yeah, yeah

[Chorus]

Goodbye,
Just to hear you say,
Goodbye

General CommentMy father passed away right before high school and hearing this song actually brought a tear to my eye. All I really wanted was for my father to say goodbye but never heard it. It's meaning is simple and for some it is just that much more powerful. Props to Black Stone Cherry.

General CommentMy best friend lost his dad when he was six, and this song goes out to him from me...

I also lost my grandfather, and my dad and two uncles were devastated by his loss, so it goes out to them as well!

Such a damn good song, fairly self-explanatory. I love it, brings a tear to my eye. BSC really should do more of this stuff :)

General CommentAmazing song and props to BSC. Lost my father when I was 9, and this song needs no explanation.
