Roll a four, roll a nine
Find yourself washed up in paradise
Like before you didn't mind
Someone else washed up in paradise, everyday

What a nice day for a murder
Yourself a killer but the only thing you're killing is your time
There's nothing absurder than a burd'
It's a burden to your heart, soul, body, spirit and mind

Don't look back at me like that, she won't take you back
I said too much, been too unkind
Get off your back, stop smoking that
Change your life, just might change her mind, her mind

Roll a four, roll a nine
Find yourself washed up in paradise
All the fours to all the nines
I lost my phone in paradise, pay as you go

What a nice day for a murder
Say you're a killer, I think you're killing is time
There's nothing absurder than a burd'
It's a burden to your heart, soul, body, spirit and mind

Oh, don't look at me like that, she won't take you back
Done too much, been too unkind
Get up off your back, stop smoking that
Change your life, think it'll change her mind

Don't look at me like that, she won't take you back
Said too much, been too unkind
Get up off your back, stop smoking that
Change your life, just might change her mind

"what a nice day for a murder you call yourself a killer but the only thing you're killing is your time" is that a reference to the allogations that the tabloids made that he killed that actor Mark Blanco?

"get up off your back stop smoking that you could change your life do you think you'll change their mind?" another reference to tabloids; he could get clean and sort things out but people would still think he's a waster. quite explicit really.

This is brilliant writing. The song is about him 'murdering' the current version of himself for a cleaner straighter version and speculating as to whether or not he really wants to accept this responsibility and enjoy it.

He writes of the absurdity of his current behaviour which he hasnt stopped (still killing his time rather than his old self) and the harm he has caused to either Kate or his mother (the phone reference may be to do with him communicating better when living in 'paradise'.

She (kate or his mother)is angry at him and maybe he can change this...then he broadens this out to the public perception of him more generally as he wonders if he can change 'their' minds'

this is what drew said when he commented on the song: Drew: "They recorded it with Bert (Jansch, UK folk legend) playing the guitar and Peter singing along so Bert's acoustic part and Peter's vocals were recorded at the same time. Peter put some arpeggio guitar over it. A lot of people think that's Bert when they first hear it. For a bit I was in the room with them playing double bass and I thought "you know what, man, this song is gonna sound beautiful as it is", so it thought I'm not going to push it. I just got up and left them to it."

i can't believe this has so few comments. it is such a loverly song. i think the meaning is: a guy has been cruel to his girlfriend, and now he's just sitting/bumming around, not apologizing, just "wallowing" in his misery: Get up off your back Stop smoking that You could change your life Do you think you'll change their mind.

I think his mates are telling him to get up and do something about it. but i dunno, that's just what i thought. maybe it's pete and kate? or is that just reading too much into it...

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
