When you’re weary
And haunted
And your life is not what you wanted
When you’re trying so hard to find it

When the lies speak the loudest
When your friends are starting to leave
When you’re broken by people like me

I hurt too, I hurt too

When an ocean sits right between us
There is no sign that we’ll ever cross
You should know now that I feel the loss

I hurt too, I hurt too

Even though you are drowning in valley’s of echoes
I believe there is peace in those hills up ahead
You will climb ‘til you find places you’ll never let go
And I will also be here praying just like I said

I hurt too, I hurt too

General CommentI think she is talking about a relationship she has or had with someone that she longs to be with but that person has a completely different path in life. One that separates them through many miles. I'm guessing different countries as well. She knows that as of now, there is no sign they will ever cross paths again. In the first half of the song, I think she is talking more in general about why "life is not what you wanted". I think this becomes more evident once people start to leave and you feel like you are stuck in the same places you don't want to be. Perhaps, she'll never be satisfied because she just wants to be near this person. I think the lying part and the " broken by people like me" refers to how her plans to see this person might turn more into lies towards not only herself but to that person as well because it's so difficult for them to stay in touch. Throughout the song she reminds this person, "I hurt too" and I will be missing you. The end of the song is beautiful...it's her basically saying, I have to accept that you are in a place that you love and you'll never let go of. She continues to give her blessings saying, I know you'll find peace where you're at, which in turn relieves from some of the hurt.

General CommentI think she is talking about the person who ended the relationship, hurts too. The person broken up with thinks the other is fine. When in all reality it hurt them just as much.

General CommentThis is such a deeply somber and beautiful song; I'm surprised no one else has commented on it.

General CommentLikewise, Fionn. This song appeared in the TV show Bones, which is where I first fell in love with it. Katie Herzig's sweet, poignant vocals are reminiscent of Jewel.

General CommentThis song is raw and very beautiful, just very true in real life, I think Katie is even more unique than Jewel!
