"Down" as written by Christian Eigner, Andrew Charles Phillpott and David Gahan....
I need some company
I need you tonight
You don't have to talk to me
And don't be polite

Take my body and soul
I feel so old

Down, on the ground
There's no one left
And the snow is falling

Down, on the ground
It's where I'm bound
To end up by morning, down

Just lay down beside of me
You know what I like
Take what you want from me
We don't have to fight

Take my body and soul
I feel so old

Down, on the ground
There's no one left
And the snow is falling

Down, on the ground
It's where I'm bound
To end up by morning, down
Oh down, oh down

And you comfort me
Until my legs go weak
Hold me closer, we won't speak

Down on the ground
There's no one left
And the snow is falling

Down, on the ground
It's where I'm bound
To end up by morning, down

Oh, we all keep falling
All down
And the world keeps turning

My OpinionBeautiful song! Second best on the Hourglass album, after Saw Something. I think it's very straightforward... Sex, maybe drugs? Classic Depeche Mode style, IMO, but still very Dave.

My Interpretationone of my favorites on the hourglass album

"down on the ground, its where i'm bound"

i think the lyrics are about a person who is on the verge of death, it conjures up an imagery of lying in a field with a person, could be a loved one or a soul mate, just counting down the inevitable.

    "and the world keeps turning..."
